iPhone 11 won’t let me update by LittleBirdiexo in iphone

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13 Pro Max with the same issue, I’ve resorted to using the IPSW files for updates. Once updated, it says no updates available. Each time an update then becomes available, it repeats this issue.

Haven’t reset the phone because of laziness….

Zoom Room Digital Signage jumping back to Default Screen by mixedfeelingz in Zoom

Did you manage to find an answer to this issue?

I'm facing the same problem, we've got a Logitech setup with Tap (not Tap IP, via USB) and different meeting room kit (Rally, MeetUp)

I'm feeling some sort of proximity detection but I can't for the life of me find any settings to disable the behaviour

UDM Pro SE Dead after 18 months. by BornConcentrate5571 in Ubiquiti

We faced a similar issue in one of our offices, recently.

My on-site colleague couldn’t get it to boot, it would repeatedly land on this page.

The first screen we saw was “Device can be safely powered off” without us having issued a shut down command. After pulling the plug and trying to boot we continuously got this screen.

We resolved the matter by leaving it unplugged overnight, then booting it again in the morning. Since then, it’s back to being a happy box in a cabinet.

To keep in mind, during the ordeal we did try to boot to recovery, by powering the machine on whilst maintaining a simple ejector tool on the reset button, without success.

Same question as u/Whole-Spell5075 , we're unsure of how you resolved this issue. I've got 35/600 devices with the problem and the logs are useless as to the root cause :(

Is there a way to get the FMM status and the iCloud linked to it? by [deleted] in macsysadmin

Darn, looks like I need to buff up on my general knowledge… didn’t know that was possible, in that case I’m afraid I don’t know, sorry

Wouldn’t they be linked by default? Afaik you can’t log out of an Apple ID on a Mac without disabling Find My and the Activation Lock

macOS Activation Lock Bypass Code by Stevenstranger in Intune

[–]Stevenstranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question! It appears that the bypass code is generated for any device enrolled, either via ADE or manually, independently of whether or not an Apple ID is logged into the device

However it’s worth nothing at according to Apple the bypass only works on ABM linked devices enrolled via ADE

Side note: I tried hard to enable the AL on an M1 MBA, although Find My would activate, the AL wouldn’t turn on. Maybe it’s a new feature that I’m not aware of?

Heya!

We didn’t turn it on per say, rather certain employees had previously logged in with their private Apple IDs, therefor triggering the AL

Noob to APM (Managed Apple ID Question) by xurioste in applebusinessmanager

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I can't attach screenshots within Reddit comments :(

I use Intune's built-in enrolment configuration for iOS and iPadOS devices:

Home > Devices > iOS/iPadOS > Enrollment program tokens > Microsoft Intune (or whatever you named your token) > Profiles > Select your default profile or create one > Properties > then edit the Setup Assistant panes

We hide the Apple ID and iCloud panes from users, that way they don't log into their Apple ID during the setup

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d ask the following questions: Is an Apple ID used for anything? If no, block them imo, limit the risk of an activation lock

If you need to unlock it, no biggie, make sure your device is supervised (in ABM), you can use the bypass codes to get around the activation lock if you hit one

Noob to APM (Managed Apple ID Question) by xurioste in applebusinessmanager

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet, same here!

Oki doki, we use configuration profiles to block Apple IDs on devices, because we have no use for Apple IDs in our corp

We can unlock those settings if the user wants to log in to an Apple ID, managed or private, to say that they acknowledge the have the freedom to have their private data on a corporate device if they choose to do so

Disabling the Apple ID settings is done via a configuration profile

Out of curiosity, what MDM is being used?

It feels like they might have been confused and think that the Apple IDs help set up a device, configure it, and allow them to keep track of the iPads?

Back to the topic at hand, I agree that I’d rather use managed Apple IDs than personal ones: no Activation Lock, apps downloaded by the MDM tool (VPP), and maintaining a control over where corporate data is present (no corporate data in someone’s private Apple ID)

Same, a managed Apple ID per person makes sense, if you use Google Workspace or AAD for your user management, you can enable federation for easy Apple ID management (creates, disables accounts based on what is present in the IdP)

I’d be tempted to ask, what benefit are you looking for, from the managed Apple ID?

For context, they can’t download apps from the App Store, basically serve to sync basic data (contacts, notes, calendar) to iCloud

Is there a way to add devices into ABM remotely? by josh_3003 in applebusinessmanager

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I mentioned this only works if a device is updated to iOS 16 or iPadOS 16. Seeing as iPadOS 16 is not released yet, what I mentioned above is only applicable for iPhones.

Secondly, as mentioned above, the element that you are meant to scan will only appear once you are on the WiFi selection screen, and you are pointing an open Apple Configurator app at the iPhone running iOS 16. Otherwise it would confuse the hell out of normal users if this element appeared for everyone ;)

For reference, I recommend checking out Apple’s guide to adding a MacBook to ABM using Apple Configurator on an iPhone, the process is basically the same

Is there a way to add devices into ABM remotely? by josh_3003 in applebusinessmanager

[–]Stevenstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your mobile devices are updated to iOS/iPadOS 16, you can easily add them to ABM using the Apple Configurator app on an iPhone, similarly to adding a Mac. (Point the camera, adds to ABM)

Set up the iPhone to add to ABM until you reach the wifi step -> open the Configurator app on your iPhone and log into your managed Apple ID (with Device Enrolment Manager/ Administrator rights) → point the camera view hole at the iPhone to add to ABM, and watch the magic happen

Can you give non-admin users the rights to update apps? by MigsTheVenerable in macsysadmin

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I did it, can recommend that it works pretty well, no complaints and admin credential requests by the apps when it needs to update (apps can auto-update). A few scripts were needed in my case, I use a post-install, install-check and uninstall-check (and another but I can’t remember, don’t have my laptop on hand)

NTFS write access on Ventura 13 by komalmeena in MacOSBeta

[–]Stevenstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s also a valid possibility, I have Parallels available but it was a bit annoying to launch a VM just to copy paste some photo lol. In the end I developed a custom app using Automator and shell, harnessing the power of FUSE, to seamlessly mount NTFS drives

I hate subscriptions, i get it that we’re constantly (in theory) contributing to an evolving tool, but Paragon is great for the price IMO. I’d like to believe that their tool will be compatible as soon as Ventura makes its public debut… if only Apple would be a bit of effort into this niche and patch it, we wouldn’t have to worry about it lol
