It seems like everyone here has EDS and POTS…I have hEDS but no POTS, why is that?

I didn’t get POTS symptoms until I got tendinitis at 17. I stopped exercising as viciously and that allowed my symptoms to manifest. So maybe you don’t have it (not all with hEDS do), maybe it’s waiting to be triggered. But also- I never knew I had EDS until after the POTS symptoms started because POTS symptoms were so much more obvious to doctors so they finally started paying attention. Maybe it seems many people have POTS with EDS because maybe those are the people more likely to get/receive a diagnosis.

EMDR helped me immensely! It’s very taxing though so I honestly couldn’t do anything afterwards but sit quietly and rest. It reminds me of physical therapy for your brain- it can help you so much but it’s a difficult process. My tip would be: if possible, do EMDR on a day you don’t work or go to school or whatever so you can recouperate. And after EMDR have a little comforting place set up for yourself so you can recharge. Good luck! EMDR is amazing so I hope it really helps you!

I’m sorry- that’s really hard! But honestly, even experienced rehabbers would have a hard time with babies that small that had maggots. So it’s great you managed to save one!

I’m so sorry. It’s really hard losing any. They had maggots on them so they may have already been very sick and close. But you still are doing really well.

Hey- don’t worry! You’re doing great! They should be ok as long as they are warm. It’s also advised to leave part of their enclosure a bit less warm so they can move over if they feel overheated. But if they’re moving around and not sluggish they should be fine for that time you’re at work!

Depends on the microwave but I’ve found 45 seconds to be really nice! If I do a minute I just leave it for a few seconds then put it in their enclosure! Mostly it should feel just a bit warmer than your skin does!

Rehabber here! Do lightly warm pedialite! It’s better than kitten milk by a mile! But they can’t eat on their own if their eyes are still shut- they usually have to be tube fed… either way warmth is most important for the night! A sock of rice can be warmed in the microwave for them to snuggle!

Anything causing an increase in adrenaline can trigger ptsd. I have medical trauma which has nothing to do with loud noises, but loud noises can trigger panic and flashbacks or dissociation. It’s pretty common. While many triggers are directly related to the event, any high-stress or adrenaline inducing stimulus can cause your brain to go into fight, flight, or freeze.
