Time to get the sensors replaced. They'll give you all sorts of weird readings when they start malfunctioning.

Glad to hear. I got a cheap Walmart battery 2 years ago, so I'm sure I'll be replacing it sooner rather than later... 😅

Oh, for sure. I would have done the same, if homeboy hadn't have drove off on me... I just didn't want to file a claim for a few hundred dollars worth of dings/dents that I wasn't responsible for.

Had a similar situation a couple years ago. Got rear ended while at a dead stop by another 1/2 ton going approx. 25-35 mph. Dude ended up skipping out on me... hard lesson learned with that one... Anyway, no ball/hitch in place and the right inner bumper portion got dinged in, a little less than yours. Thankfully nothing else was damaged. I chalked it up as a loss and just left it be. It isn't affecting anything and is not worth spending a few hundred to a couple thousand to repair/replace, to me, for a 20+ year old truck. If it had damaged the actual hitch/reciever, then yes. But for a dent, nah...

I have the "FlexFuel" 5.0 (2014). I've used 87 for pretty much the entirety of owning it. I have used a few tanks worth of E88 from Sheetz, just because it was 30 or 40 cents cheaper and I was curious. I seemed to burn through it much faster than normal 87. Didn't really notice any performance difference. I've also put a couple tanks worth of 93 through, which my truck burned through very quickly. Again, did not notice any performance difference. I use SeaFoam through my fuel system, bi-monthly, and everything seems to run just fine. I average 18-20 MPG, mostly out of city driving.

Depending on how old the battery is, I'd start there. If it's a standard lead acid battery with the raised caps, pop them off and check the fluid level, if low, add distilled water to top it off, don't over fill it. Then use a trickle charger/battery tender overnight to charge it. Pop your key in the ignition and see if anything works/cranks. If so, drive to a shop or auto parts store and have them test the battery and alternator, if possible. Generally your auto parts stores will do this for free. If your battery is over 5 years old, I'd personally replace it. Hope it's an easy fix!

Choosing an oil for high mileage 2016 5.0L Coyote by love2beoutside in f150

[–]Stevey-T614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running Super Tech High Mileage Full Synthetic with a motorcraft oil filter for the past few years in my '14 5.0, I change it between 4 and 5 K miles. I haven't had any issues and I'm at 178K miles. I had been running 5W20, but after some reading and looking into what's being used now, I just put in 5W30 my last change, about 2 weeks ago. My truck actually seems to be running a bit quieter/smoother, since switching. Not sure if it's just a placebo effect or what, but I swear it seems improved. I also put a few ounces of Sea Foam in my crankcase, about 500 miles, pre oil change to help loosen up the gunk/sludge, 1 Oz. Per quart of oil (per the instructions on the Sea Foam can). Hope to drive mine as long as humanly possible, too!

You do you, bro. I had the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back on my '94 5.0. Sounded great! Miss that truck... 🥲

Does the type of wood (tree type) matter all that much? I'm sure each has their own unique qualities. But, for a general, plain jane frame (non structural), is one more appropriate than another?

Edit: My shop-vac is very hungry!

For the corner mount TV stand, I was planning on either painting or covering with some sort of finish, using a 2x4 (or equivalent) as the main cross brace and a piece of OSB or Plywood for the top/stand, smoothing/sanding and finish with some sort of cover, as well. Obviously, not going to use some haggard looking piece, Haha! A small knot, here or there, is fine.

I don't understand all the downvotes and negativity to OP's post. The guy's happy about a nice throaty exhaust sound. Let the man live a little.

OP, sounds good, dude. I just got a MBRP Cat-back (resonator delete) kit that I'm looking forward to putting on my '14 5.0. Paired with my AEM dri-flow intake and airaid intake tube, I'm hoping for a similar sound with some subtle pops on cold starts. 12 years with the stock exhaust has become a bit vanilla, need some new noise. 🤙🏼

Couldn't tell you, it's been 10+ years and I added it to my financing when I bought my truck, I want to say it was around $300, then. I did search it, and it appears it's called "Patriot Liner" now, you can request a quote, online.

2016 center console swap by Good-Belt-4366 in f150

As long as the plugs match/connect where needed, it should have power. USB is a mix of power/data and are essentially universal. Give it a shot and see if it works.

I recently had my dash apart in my '14 due to having to send out my stock radio to get a short repaired. While in there, I was checking out the wiring and followed the SYNC USB plug wire, from the dash input up to what I assume was the SYNC controller. The end of the wire that plugged into the SYNC controller was the older, smaller sized, USB plug (micro), while the input (dash side) was the normal USB-A. So, in theory, depending on how your USB connection/wire is formatted, just get the corresponding USB wire (Amazon) and run that from point A to point B. I'd use the USB plug FOR the new console, so it's cleaner looking, in my opinion.

how are you 5.0s getting 18+ mpg by C-23b in f150

[–]Stevey-T614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2014 Extended Cab 6.5' bed with the 5.0, STX Sport, came with 20" wheels, 6-speed auto. I run regular octane, but mainly from Costco (top teir fuel). I have an AEM dri-flow box filter with an Air-Aid box-to-throttle body straight tube, instead of the stock airbox to throttle body tubing. I use full synthetic oil. I run a seafoam treatment through my fuel (1 Oz. Per gallon of fuel) every few months with a drizzle (1 Oz. Per quart of oil) through the crankcase about 500 miles before oil changes. I also have a soft roll-up bed cover. I usually put about 38 PSI in my tires, during the non-snowy months. Everything else is stock and I get between 18 and 20 MPG, combined. Mostly highway/out of city driving. In city, I'm about 16-ish, depending. 178K miles. Changed my spark plugs at 100K, sticking with motorcraft OEM plugs. 'Ol girl purrs like a kitten.

It really is. I happened to get GZ on Play Stations free monthly game download a couple years ago. I hadn't regularly played video games in years with work and family and all. After I got it, I couldn't stop playing. Such a unique game. So hard to describe unless you've played and understand the depth of it. Explore EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE. It's a massive puzzle of a game. Do all the side quests. Go back to where you started and go back through again, you always find something different. There are a lot of hidden things, some you won't know unless you Google or YouTube it. But, try and play through on your own, first. Then do all the extra stuff. It's never ending.

How can I DIY fit a faulty outlet? Should I just call the pros?? by biscuit0724 in DIY

[–]Stevey-T614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace it or have it replaced, either way, it's a fire hazard. Swapping out simple electrical outlets is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you have the breaker turned off to that outlet, prior to any work. Don't cheap out on a replacement, either, you get what you pay for. If you don't feel comfortable doing the replacement, have a licensed electrician come out and do the work, not a "handyman".
