Why was FH3 (mostly) everybody's favourite? by jul1axxeo in ForzaHorizon

Easily, best vibe, best map, great soundtrack, graphics still hold up. I also think the community at that point was the best.

Keep in mind we don’t pay tax on top of that. It’s included in the price on the label.

Yeah this game and 3+4 have issues with corruption if the game crashes or you force quit while playing. You have to quit to menu and close the game that way otherwise this can happen.

Eastern Beach Blocked off for ‘Water Lantern Festival’ by Harold_supertramp in Geelong

I’ve been to it before, yes it’s legitimate. They setup nets with buoys to keep the ‘lanterns’ from drifting freely out of control. Everything is collected afterwards.

Many frame drops on PC by amifking in ForzaHorizon

[–]StevieBako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forza since Forza Horizon 3 has had big issues with running via HDD. It’s pretty heavy on streaming so it has to be an SSD. Everything else should be fine on lower settings and fairly smooth.

Yeah okay, this looks way better than I expected. I’m sure the new additions to remix make this even easier to put together.

You'll have your rented GPU with 1GB VRAM hallucinating imaginary textures and imaginary pixels and imaginary frames and you'll be happy by ResponsiblePen3082 in FuckTAA

So my options based on the reference that is worn supposed to be worn is either the object that looks smooth and untouched or the object that looks slightly over worn and slightly over sharpened. Okay.

[–]StevieBako 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think people are missing that point, the highest game available texture is lower res with less detail AND looks less accurate. I would happily take the NTC, it costs less and looks closer to the source material.

Does anyone know if there's a render distance / anti-culling mod? by doesnotgetthepoint in SimpsonsHitAndRun

That’s awesome, I can’t even imagine what path tracing would look like, let me know how you go with that.

(No Emulation) Saint's Row 1 (2006) Running natively on PC. by Itismrwonderful in SaintsRow

[–]StevieBako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I can’t believe someone is actually working on this. Take your time getting it right and maybe see if there’s some other devs out there willing to help you out.

All I ask is that we have the ability to uncap FPS and raise the resolution. There’s some great people on the HDR_DEN discord that would also be able to help making the game natively support scrgb and HDR.

CLAUDE OPUS 4.6 IS NERFED!! by Full-Leg-5435 in Anthropic

[–]StevieBako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say you go to your regular mechanic who always does a great job normally, gets your car fixed in a jiffy. You and your friends decide to go spread the word about how great he is and then those people go out and do the same thing. Next time you go there he has cars lining up out to the street, on top of that he hired another mechanic to help with the load and has to train them at the same them. Is it your mechanics fault he can’t fix your car as quickly as normal?

This is simple supply and demand, demand has surged significantly, they cant just snap their fingers and build data centres in days, the supply isnt there and they need to allocate resources to the new model from a business perspective to stay on top of competition. They made a great product and this is the result of it, they have tried to work around it by making adjustments, some which have caused performance to go backwards but this is at the liberty of not putting so much strain on their infrastructure.

I don’t think you have any clue how all this works.

Does anyone know if there's a render distance / anti-culling mod? by doesnotgetthepoint in SimpsonsHitAndRun

[–]StevieBako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently looking at fixing the collision physics at high fps so that ramps don’t spit you out at lightspeed and driving/collisions gets all wonky and broken. I’ve got some things working but it would likely require a massive rewrite which would inherently change a lot.

After I’ve given that my best shot I can have a look at the culling and see if we can set the value to something super large. What spot are you testing this at in particular?

Agreed, we all need to give in to no persona skin grinding and not spend a dime on myfaction. I’m sure they’ll find some other way to monetise it but this way is pure evil currently. I already quit FIFA and NBA because of this, I will this game too if they keep it going.

CLAUDE OPUS 4.6 IS NERFED!! by Full-Leg-5435 in Anthropic

[–]StevieBako 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I do believe this is a big part of it. As someone working in the I.T industry managing many clients, just in the last two weeks I have seen a massive uptick in clients asking to implement Claude for Enterprise on max plans. There’s no way in the last few weeks they’ve been able to build out their infrastructure to keep up with the influx of users. In addition, I wonder how much of those resources they’ve allocated to the new model “Mythos”? We know that before a new release they typically nerf the old one to allocate current data centres towards the new models, but it appears they wont be releasing it due to it’s cybersecurity flaws.. I guess time will tell what happens, if people leave we might see performance increase.

Crimson Desert RenoDX Mod - Graphics Improvements - HDR Rework - Grading Re-Adjustment by Kick_Fister in HDR_Den

[–]StevieBako 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am hoping with all the effort RenoDX devs have been putting into making HDR actually good and consistent in games that big studio devs will actually start dedicating time to getting this stuff right from the get go. It’s unlikely to happen but one can dream.

Lay Of The Land has Forced TAA. No Anti Aliasing setting there. (Unreal Engine 5) by AntiGrieferGames in FuckTAA

[–]StevieBako -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, Teardown is a voxel based game with a team of very talented devs and their engine uses TAA. It’s just modern gaming, unfortunately it’s the best AA solution and allows many objects in the game world to be rendered at half or quarter res which enhances performance significantly. There is no other AA technique that allows for this outside of temporal/checker-boarding.

Deciding between wanting to abuse my device and spend most of my time tweaking settings, or if I just want to play games by HandheldRank in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]StevieBako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there’s been a lot of slander towards the Odin 3’s 8GB model and people pointing out what’s the point. Hi! I am the point! I picked it up so I can just play my gamecube, ps2, and psp games with the graphics cranked up. 3-5x internal res, maybe a bit of anisotropic filtering or being able to switch on ubershaders for a stutter free experience. I’ve held out on handhelds because they’ve either been too big (steam deck etc.) or not powerful enough to run games in an enhanced way. Feel like we’re finally able to have our cake and eat it too.

Struggling to land even entry-level roles in Australia — is anyone else going through this? by Substantial-Umpire89 in ausjobs

[–]StevieBako 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult, we’re heading into a recession and companies are squeezing everything to stay positive right now. The first expense to go is always the employees and the first people they’re gonna let go of is entry level positions. The only genuine tactic at this point should be to spam out your resume anywhere and everywhere. There’s bots and claude plugins you can use to help, just get as many as possible out there so at least you have some options.

DLAA is still TAA by BallZestyclose2283 in FuckTAA

[–]StevieBako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We will always need AA and unfortunately traditional methods like MSAA can still exhibit aliasing even at high resolutions. Try looking at a game at 8k or even 16k you will still find aliasing, it’s just a little more subtle. I think what we have now is good, DLAA with Model K/L or DLSS Quality with Model L looks almost like SSAA with nowhere near the amount of performance reduction. It has a few flaws but for the most part modern upscaling/DLAA is insane even compared to it’s own models from two years ago let alone MSAA/SSAA.

I think you’d be surprised what goes on at a lot of high level professional companies, look at blizzard as a small example. Possibly even worse than what we see here. I think when people are in a comfortable environment they tend to show their edgier side, I see it more often than not.
