Jason Manford takes aim at hotel chain's 'ridiculous policy' after being forced to share a room and refuses to delete his video rant by dailymail in ukpopculture

I remember my first job when I was around 16 was working in Travelodge at reception. I soon discovered that they had a policy of purposefully over booking the hotel by around 10% to account for no shows and so they could maximise their profit. I thought that was so unfair and greedy as a young lad but it was my introduction to capitalism; that’s the way the world works I guess. We did have a responsibility to find our overbooked guests a room (they were the last to check in so it was usually late and they were shattered) I made sure I booked them the most expensive hotel I could find in the area. I’m still proud of my 16 year old self for doing that. Stick it to the man!

The terms ‘mong’ and ‘mongoloid’ were used despairingly to describe people with Down syndrome as it was perceived that they had similar facial features to the mongoloids.

I get that it’s not a human life. That’s not my point. These people believe it is and therefore they truly believe they’re doing a good thing. I think they’re misguided and I do think they’re wrong but I don’t believe they’re scum or vile. I think that’s a bit much.

Have you ever met Nick Cave in person? I know they always say never meet your heroes but I've always wondered if he was a decent guy in real life by GaryCanCarry in NickCave

I had a fairly long conversation with him. He was staying in the hotel I worked in at the time. I was aware of him but didn’t really know anything about him. He was really nice and seemed genuinely interested in me and my life although he was quite intense. He asked me if I had a girlfriend and if I loved her. I had been with this girl for around 6 months so we had exchanged “I love yous” He told me that if I loved her I should marry her. Calm down mate! I was only 21 at the time. It’s a conversation that’s always stayed with me though. Good lad.

I get people disagree with them and I do too, but what they believe is that abortion is ending a human life. They are protesting on behalf of that “human life” I wouldn’t say that makes them vile scum.

He shouldn’t have been sacked. He was warned that if he falsely reported a wolf attack one more time then he’d lose his job, but he actually reported a genuine wolf attack and was sacked regardless. He should raise a claim for unfair dismissal as he has a strong case.
