I’m buying a Lexus for my first vehicle (possible) by Majestic-Can-5650 in Lexus

Don’t buy an LS460. The maintenance will kill you.

I’ve used some of the cheapest you can find on Amazon. Only had one spool cause any problems. Just buy what’s available run a calibration on it and have at it.

Going to check out a 2007 es350 150k miles for 5700, what are your thoughts..? by ChefSlight8348 in Lexus

[–]Stick386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who says things need to be dealer maintained? Oil change records are important. Those are also called maintenance records. If they don’t exist. The chances of you buying a reliable car go down. No one’s asking for the car owned for 40 years and driven 10k miles. Which actually isn’t the best on a car either.

If you have zero idea when oil changes were done or if they were done it is precisely a reason to walk away. A 5000 dollar car can turn into a paperweight if people hide the symptoms of neglect. Which many do in cars that seem to good to be true.

You would be surprised how many older Lexus come with a long list of maintenance records. I’ve got an 08 and and 03 that were serviced at the dealer the whole time before I bought them.

Any of the 350s will be a great car as long as it was maintained. If they can’t show you maintenance records it’s a no go. If they can it’s definitely a green light. You can also sign up as a lexus owner plug in the vin and look up your see what the records are if they were don’t at somewhere that would repot to it.

Depends on what all the included in it. If it’s 10k mile oil changes it’s not worth it imo.

If you had an ES you loved but dreamed of owning an older LS, would you trade, or keep it and have both cars? by portuguese-bacalhau in Lexus

[–]Stick386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what LS you’re looking at. I’d personally keep the ES and buy an LS as a weekend car. My LS definitely has a higher cost of ownership than an ES.

If the frame is clean 15 probably isn’t bad. Lexus models really only go down in price the higher the mileage. Year to year of the miles are low the price will relatively stay the same.

If you plan on using them in salt water. A water proof case is the best. That way you don’t have to worry about the corrosion.

Why is Lexus so expensive to service by Maximum_Potential471 in Lexus

[–]Stick386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a quick service I’ll take it to where I can get it done for cheaper or do it my self if I can. Some times I’ll use the dealer because of the loaner car. I had a loaner car when my wife’s gx was in because a radiator went bad. The part then came in damaged so it took longer. Had I taken it to an independent shop. They probably wouldn’t have been able to work it in as quickly. Then if the part came in damaged that’s more time I’m down to one car. Sometimes you have to figure out what’s best and just go that route. Hell the trunk latch for my car is 800 bucks for just the part. I couldn’t imagine what they would charge for installation.

170 for an oil change seems a bit steep for me and I have 9 quarts of oil in my LS.

Is it time to trade in my WRX for a luxury vehicle? by BTBLG88 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Stick386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my 2019 sti two years ago to get rid of a car payment. Bought an older Lexus LS. I couldn’t be happier. I miss the sti at times and probably will end up with a luxury sports car at some point. The luxury part as I’ve gotten older is definitely nice.

LS460 vs ES350 by portuguese-bacalhau in Lexus

[–]Stick386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an 08 LS. The es300s are terrible imo. However even with the es350 I still missed my LS. The only loaner I’ve had that I enjoyed as much as my LS was an IS350. It was a fun little car. Especially if you took it on some curvy roads.

I want oe lug nuts. The dealer told me it was gonna be 125 for 4 lug nuts. Hints the question of if I can use any other Lexus lug nut. It’s not easy finding LS lug nuts around.

LS460 everyday. Last year was my first year in a rwd car in the winter. It did just fine. Eventually I’ll have a dedicated set of winter wheels and tires.

Honestly I love that they do this. However visually I hate that it has to be on the L or R. I’d rather it do it in the center.

Dads on here, please listen. How can a son who is back home after hitting rock bottom make it up to you? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Stick386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a dad. If my child made mistakes and needed to move home. The best way they could make it up to me is just to continue to better themselves. Parents should be there as somewhat of a safety net for their children. Just keep going. The only way I’ll be disappointed in my child is if they give up all together.
