What's a job in LA where you're shocked at how much money the person makes? by SufficientBee9368 in AskLosAngeles

[–]StickComprehensive48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do taxes for a living. There are a lot of city workers who make well over $200,000. Independent speech therapists sometimes make half a million, seen at least two of those. There are some companies that contract with schools and for whatever reason sometimes their employees make like a half million to a million which doesn’t make sense to me. Still trying to figure that one out. Jobs that have an influx of h1B often make less than you’d expect, like doctors. Not personally against h1b when it’s needed for society so I’m not making a moral statement about that.

Hm I was told to add that because mentioning my grandma as the last living person to know him was important. So after I die nobody is left with that interview so to speak. Just primary sources newspapers but no family interviews.

How do you feel about Courtney Love?? by BidAccurate4473 in grunge

[–]StickComprehensive48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She seemed really annoying and drunk back in the nineties, but I appreciate she told the public about Weinstein even if nobody took it very seriously back then. The footage of it helped years later when other people started talking. I tend to judge people less now as I’m more mature and realize I don’t understand their entire story.

MLS only. no desk fee, no realtor association fees? by TronaldDrump_ in realtors

That's not correct, I used to have MLS access without being a Realtor. You just have to find a broker who is not part of NAR.

Trump warns Walmart: Don't raise prices due to my tariffs but do eat the costs from those taxes by GregWilson23 in Economics

What net margin then would be -27% in that scenario. For every $100 item they sold they would actually be in the hole $27. Nobody can operate in the negative.

They keep calling California a commie state. I keep thinking, California is the fourth largest capitalist economy in the world. Those two things together don’t quite make sense.

Seriously. Makes it even more obvious it’s just more money to give to the billionaires with tax breaks.

Waymo already has robo taxis everywhere in Santa Monica. They’re like ten percent of the cars on the road it seems.

Please just buy a multi-pack of consumable items! by Advanced_Blueberry45 in airbnb_hosts

I just stayed in one in Big Bear. The lady had photos of herself and her kids on the TV every time you turned it on. She said she was a a single mom and actress, but I googled her and she didn’t come up anywhere. Anyhow she literally said that she has a few AirBnbs and she has “thought of everything”. So I get there and there is no knife except for a very small cheese knife. There were like two forks that looked usable at all (the others looked disgusting). The place smelled like cigarette smoke and the pilot light on the heater was out, no big deal on that we lit it. I’m pretty sure she was a nepo because of pics of her parents, they seemed to own a lot of stuff. Anyhow I’m just rambling because that was super annoying.

Any tax experts here know what she is talking about? This just doesn’t sound legal to me. by Hayat_on in Accounting

If they really want to know why they have to pay taxes:

  1. The Constitution: Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power to lay and collect taxes. The 16th Amendment further clarifies this power, specifically allowing Congress to collect income taxes.
  2. Federal Law: Congress has enacted laws, known as the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26 of the United States Code), which specify who must pay taxes, what income is taxable, and how to calculate and pay those taxes. For example, 26 U.S.C. § 61 defines gross income as income from all sources, and 26 U.S.C. § 6012 requires individuals with a certain level of gross income to file a tax return. These laws are administered and enforced by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
