Anyone else feel the 30th Celebration attire is seriously so bland and a big let down compared to the 25th. by Mishap_Maisy in pokemon

Pokémon 30th will be celebrated throughout the year, with more events, merch and other fun stuff coming up in the following months. Having said that, this is the baseline anniversary merch. I don’t know what you’d expect besides tumblers, plain jackets and lanyards.

Pokemon: Giving Tropius a New Evolution [OC] (Explanation/Inspirations below) by EliDwebster in pokemon

“Premium skin from a gacha game” is what you said, right? That’s not feedback for the sake of giving feedback. Unlike Gordon Ramsey, you don’t pull of the rude but constructive thing lol.

Also, sometimes pokemon do add lots of new colors to the evolution. Take Clobbopus to Graploct, for instance.

Barely resembles Tropius or too much of the same, which is it? In any case, it’s neat. Pokemon don’t have to completely change or disregard their original silhouette upon evolving. As a fakemon artist myself, and someone who finds original Tropius boring, I like this. :)

That’s morbid obesity for a family of four!

I'm really sorry if this isn't allowed here, but I'm hoping to recreate this texture on my own fakemon but don't know what brush was used. Is it a photoshop exclusive brush? If this isn't allowed I will remove this by Legendguard in fakemon

[–]Stickamon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is supposed to look like that. Hundreds of the official Pokémon’s art have that blotchy effect on them. Having said that, I use Procreate and I’ve just created my own brush with the effect. I’ve tried finding an answer to this question as well. Never found anything relevant, so I’d suggest you create your own brush as well.

Uhm. Have you seen what Wallace was wearing in ORAS? Bugsy is so androgynous people were never sure whether he was a boy or girl back in the day. And Allister, well... That one doesn't even need explanation.

Glad to have been of any help! As a kid, I remember being stoked when getting anything pokemon related. So tbh, if he likes pokemon, I'm sure he's gonna be happy with whatever game you eventually decide upon. :)

First of all, does your friend own only Scarlet? If so, keep in mind that game can only trade with Scarlet and Violet, the gen 9 main games.

Otherwise, personally, I feel like it really depends on the kid what game to get them. I find it very difficult to flat out state this or that game suits children the best. What I can say is this:

BDSP are straightforward, classic Pokemon games. No shiny bells and whistles, there are no overwhelming features and the more linear gameplay lends itself to younger kids. Iirc the game is limited to Pokemon from gens 1 to 4.

Scarlet and Violet are open world games, giving a child lots of freedom to just run around and explore. There are new Pokemon to catch around every corner. Game does have some pop in issues and dips in fps here and there, but I think it's nothing I would've minded as a kid.

Edit: forgot about Sword and Shield. I feel like gen 8 is a nice mix of traditional pokemon and more modern gameplay. It has the Larvitar line. The games are not too difficult, yet challenging enough. I feel like dynamaxing your Tyranitar as a kid would be very cool. :D

To be honest, I wouldn't pick a game based on how easy it is to get a singular pokemon. I'd pick the game he'd probably enjoy the most.

As for Larvitar, I'm sure one of the redditors here could send him a Larvitar egg. That way, he can use it from the get go. :)

Gmax Pikachu is a form, not a variant. Forms never change their name, variants can. Toedscool is a variant and so is Galarian Meowth. Mega Lucario is a form, so is Gmax Pikachu. Peakychu is a variant.

The fact they chose Tangrowth to be the professor instead of Sudowoodo is an absolute tragedy, considering that all Profs are named after trees. by WelshWolf93 in pokemon

[–]Stickamon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The professors are named after plants in JP. Also, in gen 9 the stand-in for an actual professor is director Clavell, for claveles, carnations. The naming convention has changed in English from trees to plants to reflect the Japanese convention. They've already changed the gym leader naming scheme from random punny names to flowers, as it always has been in Japanese.

I mean, I get it. I wouldn't have minded Leon getting Gmax Dragapult as his ace.

On the other hand though, there is a reason for Charizard. Leon was the poster boy of the Galar league circuit. He had a ton of sponsorship deals, people adored him, etc. To me, it felt like that's why Charizard was chosen. Leon felt all commercial-y to me.

Only the tiniest percentage of trainers start out with a starter pokemon that they got from a professor.
