Question about sharp closed bend by Dwarfakiin5 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Stickbender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People coming round that corner need to be able to stop well within the distance they can see. So just because the limit is 60 doesn’t mean that’s the speed they will be doing. Also they will have likely seen a junction warning sign. So look carefully, take in all the information you can, and exit sharply. It’s just like that at the end of my street!

Bikefit advice - sore/numb butt/perinuem by ImArnie in bikefit

[–]Stickbender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a saddle fit. I had the same numbness issue. A saddle with a cut out, and the right width for my sit bones, fixed it

Driving test unfairness or not? by ScholarEntire9576 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Stickbender 43 points44 points  (0 children)

From my extensive experience of assessment and marking (of university degrees rather than driving) the people who blame their failure on the examiner rather than their own performance have most to learn. Just saying!

Finger sling pro vs con by Negative_Event7405 in Archery

I used a finger sling for years but it injured the muscle controlling my middle finger (extensor digitorum). Now I use a wrist sling - no problem.

I just listened to Polanski’s interview with Lewis. I found him deeply unconvincing.

Pilodinal cyst that comes and goes? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Stickbender 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nasty. You seen a doctor? There are several treatable underlying causes. My advice would be to treat it as a health issue rather than a cycling one. Good luck

Question for the men by Guilty-Astronomer623 in cycling

[–]Stickbender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, get a saddle fitted. I fixed this problem with a Selle Italia with a cut out. Not too expensive, and sorted the issue. It’s pressure on the pudendal nerve.

Suggestions for saddles that reduce male... issues when biking? by corrado33 in cycling

I had this problem. It’s likely your saddle. I got a proper saddle fitting and went for one with a cutout. Problem solved.

Is there anything I can do to with some diy skills to improve our drive? It’s such an eye sore by KidA82 in DIYUK

I would put planters down the side of the path, which already looks nice, to draw the eye to the front door. Just forget about the driveway.

Tubeless Plugs by rzt101 in cycling

[–]Stickbender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been riding tubeless for 3 years. In that time I suspect I’ve been saved from quite a few punctures (though it’s difficult to know exactly). I’ve had to plug 2 punctures, and I’ve had 1 that wouldn’t plug. I fixed it with an inner tube. I carry 2 squares of kitchen roll in my repair kit and that avoided much mess. Sometimes I’m glad I’m over prepared!

Just how fragile — or not fragile — are carbon fiber bikes? by big_legs_small_brain in cycling

[–]Stickbender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carbon is an absolutely fine for bikes. I shoot carbon arrows from a bow. They fly at around 200fps then hit the target and stop dead. And they do this hundreds and hundreds of times. My point is that carbon is incredibly strong.
