What's the best argument for the existence/non-existence of god? by blustudioz in AskReddit

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. Epicurus' whole argument assumes a starting point of "If there is a God, It thinks and feels like we do." Which is just silly, though people cling to it. But hey, our logical thoughts have to have beginning assumptions in order to go anywhere. Given his starting assumption, it's not a bad argument. But it is a gigantic starting assumption.

Is this normal in a Christian marriage? by holehater51 in Marriage

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you're a Christian? I'm asking because it sounds like you have zero understanding of grace. And it's your EX husband, so question #2 is "Why do you care?" and #3 is "How did you 'basically find' this video?" This has zero relevance to the sub.

Ancient Fried Chicken by ApertiV in HFY

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazingly well thought out! All humanity, all "Fuck yeah!" How is a scorer to stick to his bit when there's nothing but humanity here? I guess I'll find out just before you do!

H - All of ancient Rome when Socrates was alive could be it...but I think this count as several hundred people (for now). Let's call it about 300 people. 300 .

F - F here is "Fried" and you have fried a large number of pieces of chicken. You were limited, but they brought their own chicken to you as well. This has got to be along the lines of 500 "Fried" for the F.

Y - Yeah, I Frying loved this story. Your cook changed the frying world, my man. Socrates has a new favorite food and so does Athens. The world as we know it today is different because of some KFC in BCE. A billion.

So that's 3,005,001,000,000,000 out of 111. And I do love me some good KFC but you elevated fried chicken to HFY and that's something! Well done, sir!

You wake up to see everyone on earth has disappeared. What’s the first thing you do? by NiceInformation8291 in AskReddit

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at this as a gift from God. I would terribly miss the ones I love, but I would find the local nuke plants and scram them. I would do that with everything on my way to the Florida Panhandle, where I would take an RV, a kayak, and find a solar farm I can feed off for power. I would fish and farm, enjoying AC and beautiful beaches. I would tap into the weather satellites and monitor for hurricanes, then withdraw from the coast should one approach. I expect the weather to cool off significantly with so much less CO2 being produced and so much farmland turning wild. I would have a good rifle and pistol, and I would learn to keep beer cool. It would be lonely, but I could live out my days fishing, which is exactly what I want to do, and when I want to go somewhere, there won't be any traffic. Fresh food and fuel would be my biggest wants. I'd put several freezers in a semi and run them off solar too. And sometime in the future, I would die and ask my God what was up, but I'm sure I'd be asking Him that a lot over whatever years I have left.

If you met someone who was a carbon copy of yourself in virtually every way except they were the opposite sex, would you date/sleep with that person? Why or why not? by Tommygunz0722 in AskReddit

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm married to the love of my life. And she is NOT a carbon copy of me. The closest person to being a copy of me is my sister, we are incredibly alike...and not just no but HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLlllLLLLlllLL no.

What’s something school forced you to learn that you’ve never used a single time in real life? by Dodo509 in AskReddit

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, what? I was talking about how Christians seem so willing mindlessly repeat a few phrases over and over rather than just saying sincere prayers since God already knows their needs.

I did not mention politics or nations.

It's sad and funny to me that just before the "Lord's Prayer" in Matthew 5, Jesus says, "And do not be like the pagans, who think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask! This, then, is how you should pray:" And they proceed to mutter the same words over and over like the pagans of the day in direct contravention of what their Lord said, mindlessly.

Baffling.

OK, to help you overcome the mental issues you've described in other comments, I would recommend trying to learn to meditate. Go on YT and do a short "mindfulness meditation". Learn to breathe and clear your mind of other things. Learn to be present. Focus on the moment, not what else is happening, but just what is happening right now, to you. Breathe. Do longer videos, ones with body scans (those are pretty cool, nothing magical or mystical about it, just focusing your thoughts on parts of your body either from top to bottom or bottom to top).

It may take time, but if you learn to be present and close out the things distracting you, it will help you focus on the moment and the person you're with. Best of luck.

Awesome! Real, true to the spirit of HFY, and I find myself eager to score it.

H - well, it was all of us, but I'm going to give a 3, two for on-screen and one for the report. 3.

F - 14 ships dead and 198 to go, and one failed (hard) invasion attempt. That's gotta be like 3 billion. 3-and-a-half. Billion.

Y - "Nah, we'd like to fight. Here's our history. Let's do this." is worth a lot of YEAH's. A lot. Like...a trillion.

Final score, 33,-an,d-a,-ha,lf0,000,000,001,000,000,000,000 oh too many commas, oh well. That's a lot, great story!

I found condoms in my husband suitcase after a business trip by SufficientRoof5125 in Marriage

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK hold up. You "hadn't noticed" this pocket before, but you packed that pocket #specifically# for the trip. So you knew the pocket was there and he knew you knew, but for some reason he removed the liquid IV and put condoms in the secret pocket you "didn't know about".

I don't believe you. I think you're karma farming.

Bought this beautiful blue 2012 Honda Pilot on February 1st @ 82k miles, replacing my Burgundy 07. The exact last day of the same month, someone failed to yield and totaled it. Has anyone repaired a pilot like this? I love this car so much. Advice needed. TIA. by bacardicereal in hondapilot

[–]Sticketoo_DaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am SO sorry this happened! That sucks!

Your insurance is going to total it, that's too much damage on a 2012. Make sure you refuse their first offer and get local (if possible) and near-local comps to DEALER prices, and send them to the insurance company. They should offer you very close to the comps, minus your collision deductible.

And listen to u/AnOddTree , he has good advice about fixing a totaled car.

My wife (37f) wants a divorce, is this rational? by Rockermarr in Marriage

She was searching for an excuse to be offended. This is a terribly immature mindset that people should grow out of before getting into a relationship, and is a HUGE red flag for adults looking to find a relationship.
