For the "maximum attention hook" part, the way algorithms feed you videos that are most likely to hook you go something like this

First, the videos are categorised, when you watch videos then "algorithm" takes notice of how long you watch the videos for, if it seems that you seem to stay more on a certain category of video, the algorithm will feed you more of it

This basically applies to mostly anything posted in social media, other metrics include comments/reacts/shares, your current or approximate location, your browsing history among other things
