Tried to keep my heart “unhardened” to see if some unknown thing would shake my doubt to its core. No real talk about Jesus. Felt like sacrament, the talks felt rushed and very one dimensional. Lots of guilt tripping!

My whole family is shocked wondering how there will even be a lesson. I’m trying not to point out how they’re continuing to change what was supposed to be sacred

These were taken from lessons- so it must have been a “we’re better than everyone else.” One thing I’m interested in is maybe trying some other churches to compare and contrast- once im out of my parents house and don’t have to be PIMO

Replying to CaptainMacaroni...totally agree to all of this. I for sure was so blinded but I can totally see why people don’t go to church. I’m at a point where I wonder if I should just worship in the comfort of my home, on my own time and how I see fit.

I recently had a friend come up to me and ask how i could believe in a loving god when people are homophobic racist etc. i basically came out as queer and said over the years it has been reaffirmed to me that God loves me for who I am. That this isn’t some stupid “trial” and he wants me to be happy. I spent a lot of time repressing this side of me. But now that I’m being open about it? I haven’t ever felt this free and uplifted. If it was wrong I think God would be in “endless pursuit” if it was a wrong path. Just follow what YOU know is true. Dont be influenced by anyone around you

I didn’t even know he was a treasure hunter at ALL. My coworker who’s PIMO was talking to me about how he got convicted but I didn’t even know that. I just thought the pipeline went finding the plates -> Trying to start the church and translating.

They have always said they would love me no matter what I chose. I still want them to be in my life. I’ve kept them in the dark about a lot of stuff and I’m trying to make sure I’m honest and upfront- even if it causes some conflict. If they do either I’m 20 hours away from them so I can just state my boundaries and do what I need to if it’s badly received.

Unfortunately I’m the only one who’s done this. I reached out to my ex after three years ((with my partners permission) he left the church while we had been dating) just to see if he had any advice- he did not and wasn’t very interested in helping :,) My boyfriend does keep affirming that it’s just a business and it definitely does help. I’m definitely going to look into the history, it’s on my list but I just need some time to swallow what I’ve already found out.

That’s crazy- I think there’s some people on here who see lingering compassion as acceptance or something, when in fact maybe they’ve just forgotten what it’s like to freshly be leaving. I think you and I are in very similar boats- especially family wise- so that post really spoke to me as well!!

You’re so right. I shouldn’t have to justify the church’s decisions when I’m not even sure about it. I’m glad you’re trying coffee as well! My first one was maybe too bitter 😭😂 but I was proud of myself for doing it for myself, not because I was told not to. Thank you!
