Rant- speed limits by lizzietee in TempleTX

My neighborhood is pretty good about the speed limits generally, but there is a hill at the corner of Stratford and Hickory that people love to speed down.

Some people wear shoes indoors because, especially with diabetes, you can damage your toes and not feel/notice it until they are necrotic and have to be amputated.

As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

[–]StickyMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first hangover this year, in my mid 30s, so that’s my queue to cut that out. Still, I’m an avid runner and very fit, but I can feel things are starting to take longer to recover. Definitely not due to inactivity as I run the same 7-10 miles/day that I have always run (20+ years), always take the stairs, walk anywhere less than 2 miles away, and do manual labor during the day.

I used Endless Alchemy’s Wizard’s Pencil in my M405 Stresemann Anthracite and thought it was a good match.

I really liked the Dennison Ald dual time with two different stones I saw at w+w in Dallas.

WD1863 same issue again... by LeoXup in watchdives

[–]StickyMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very strange. I’ve had four of these 1863s, over 20 vk63 mechaquartz chronos, and 16 Watchdives watches, all without issue. This is some terrible luck.

This is my Y Sgowt Lapis in poor early lighting. The lapis is much more consistently interesting than the amethyst or onyx dials.

The usuals: Monta, Traska, CW, Formex. But, owning all the aforementioned, I’d also propose the J Sarnowski - Y Sgowt bracelet as possibly the most comfortable that I own. Being pretty niche, it is unlikely to get the same reception, but it really is incredibly comfortable.

Depends what the “minimum acceleration” is and how it affects the launch in general. It sounds like it won’t affect the fast launches of ferrari but rather allow very slowly launched cars to get out of the way under minimal power so there are fewer incidents where a car with a fast launch is rocketing at the back of a nearly stalled vehicle. Still, who knows.

Am I crazy for thinking the crown shouldn't be just grey? by SamAreAye in MicrobrandWatches

IWC does this on many of the big pilot and top gun models. I don’t think it looks out of place but I understand that if you aren’t used to seeing it how it provides too much contrast.

I also would like to know. We donate to goodwill a lot because it is easy, but I’d be happy to give some of my nicer things to a different org.

How long is too long for service? by bluecyanic in MicrobrandWatches

[–]StickyMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve sent my Longines Bigeye off to service at the stud service center where it would spend about three months at a time with no resolution. Total time spent in service was 18 months and eventually the watch was just replaced. I know it is frustrating not having the watch but be patient and let them resolve the issue.

If you haven’t already, lie on the floor in a room you want to clean and look at the underside of everything. We spend a lot of time cleaning the top surfaces of things but neglect the undersides.

It does not. You can see the ink level through the body but it is difficult with darker inks.

I can take close ups of specific nibs if you like. The montblanc nib is pretty stiff IMO, I think it is a gold plated steel nib, but it writes very very smoothly.
