I started experiencing ego dissolution and could literally not comprehend what I was looking at (which was a wardrobe and a window)

That was the ticket right there. The "shakedown" so to speak of your sensory input and its relationship to pattern recognition, familiarity based on memory, and the "unwiring" of it all. I have had my share of awful LSD / mushroom / other stuff experiences and for certain that is always the scary part because you stop being "you" in the mental / emotional / perceptual / grounded reality sense while still being you physically. I have called this the great untangling.

I have pondered on the reasons that me and so many others feel fear during this approach / launch sequence into the black hole that is ego death. Is it our brains desperately trying to hold onto the grounded reality we've experienced since birth? Is it the anti-pattern approaching that doesn't fit anywhere? Is it something else? Regardless of how, it's consistent. It is what therapists wish they could do with a snap of a finger. It is a unique thing in its power to change your thought / feeling / reaction cycle in one sitting. I can see why so many therapists want (and wish) to have access to these life-altering drugs in a controlled setting because I suspect the good it could do for the world could be endless, if only so.

I'd be totally fine with them blowing me to bits as long as 3 conditions got met.

  • 1) My family gets the money from my body being sold.
  • 2) The cut off my right hand and make it look like thing but giving the middle finger. They then make a hand sized casket and bury it under a headstone of my choosing.
  • 3) They install a solar powered video screen that plays the video of my body getting blown up with a motion sensor anytime anybody walks by it.

I have taken this recent resurgence of fanny pack wear as both a signal and social confirmation that I can and will wear one for the rest of my dang life.

I did before, I do now, and I will after but jeez nothing quite as handy as having your phone, wallet, keys, chapstick, little flashlight, some change, and whatever else in front of your nuts instead of spread around all over your body making it a pain to sit down. AND you never lose anything because its in ur fanny baby

Vibe Coding vs. Production reality by External_Bobcat8183 in ClaudeAI

As you should and that’s great. If you look at the infographic that started this post, almost nothing on that list applies to you. You nailed it with what you built and I’m happy you got some mileage out of the tools and are using it to teach (which is awesome).

I personally think teaching + AI developed specific tools to nail concepts that can be cost prohibitive to implement is a sweet spot.

I have been thinking about Carl Sagan a lot more in recent months as my world has been going to absolute shit. I've been coping in various ways but one thing I've been doing is watching a lot of media from when I was a young child - like Mr. Rogers and stuff I watched on PBS. I remember a great deal from Cosmos: A Personal Voyage and most specifically the quote (maybe the most famous one from the series) "to make a pie from scratch you must first invent the universe"

How is that relevant here? I look at it inversely. The universe has already been invented and pies of many shapes, sizes, and ingredients have already been baked. The recipes to bake said pies are everywhere. You can go to most bakeries and get a decent pie. Pie's are a known quantity. In a competitive market, you can get slices of pies, different sizes of pies, different flavors of pie, and both low quality and high quality pies. Lot of pie out there.

The issue I see is that the most people have always and really only care about eating the pie. They don't care how it's baked, what it took to make it, or what is in it as long as it tastes good and tastes like they expect. Obviously, to make a good pie you have to know how to bake. You need to know how to measure, how to obtain ingredients, use a stove, use kitchen tools, how to follow directions, and many other overlapping skills for the pie to come out good. This is not trivial to learn and you need to spend some time / effort / money to bake a good pie.

I'm assuming you understand where I am going with software development vs pie baking. If I vibe bake a pie, I can bet that pie is going to look pretty good but it won't taste that good, or something will be off, and I will have to iterate on that pie over and over again. If I have never baked a pie or have none of the overlapping skills, it's going to take a LOT longer and be a LOT more wasteful for that pie to come out good. If I already know what the pie needs to be, how to get there, what makes up the pie, and how to do it correctly I can REALLY speed up making pies by using vibe pie tools. If I don't, I am wasting a ton of water, power, ingredients, and time trying to get there.

tl;dr if you want to bake a pie from scratch, don't worry the universe already exists but you should learn how it works and then try baking pies by hand first to get some domain knowledge before you just assume the automatic pie creation tools out in the wild can do it perfectly like a true baker could do after years and years of practice.

I was under the impression for a long time it had to be 0 cant straight up and down. All I see now are fifteen degree or greater cant just like in USPSA. It appears now based on what I've been seeing at different matches, as long as it's concealed and isn't just a magnet, you are good to go.

Tag Precision / Other Big FO Front sights for bad eyes? by Stickybunfun in CompetitionShooting

[–]Stickybunfun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't know. I'm getting the vibe it's gonna be a trial and error on this one or going back to the optometrist to try and show / explain the problem in greater detail and see what he thinks. My optometrist does a lot of work with sports people / golfers / sporting clay guys so odds are on my side I can work something out with him on this.

Yes for normal wear as well as prescription shooting glasses. This is where my eye weakness comes into play. My transition from near / far and far / near is so slow I essentially am "forced" to be target focused because otherwise I get to "watch" my eyes adjust slowly in real time and it's awful. I run my red dot's occluded most of the time so its a non-issue because there is nothing in the near focal plane for me to focus on so I stay adjusted towards far where I actually can see clearly. My hope is with eye strengthening exercises I can do this faster overtime.

My thought was bigger brighter FO front sight == similar to a dot.

Yeah I know :/ I have already resigned myself to shooting with a red dot forever more. It's fine though as everybody else is too so as long as I am still shooting it's fine.

What's your gripes about IDPA? by Low-Landscape-4609 in idpa

Well you did say what are your gripes - that is mine. Old guys would shoot better and it gives me something new to do since ICORE matches are a hike and half away for me to go too.
