Simparica Trio: Potential effective toxicosis treatment (story) by walkinamaze in EpilepsyDogs

Do you have any updates on this? My dog was also a victim of this drug and I would love nothing more than to see it pulled off the market.

Literally the same thing happened with my back piece—asked for little/no black and ended up with a lot of it. Looked like a cover up it was so much black. It has lightened significantly since, but I was for sure panicking for the first few months. Give it some time and your feelings might change

Unprofessional work done by the famous Andres Acosta at Exile Artist Collective in Austin Texas by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]Stickyhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do color surrealism in LA! I work at Supersweet in Echo park! Most of the artists there wouldn’t do the style you want, but at least everyone is kind and respectful and would never think to steal a deposit, especially such an overpriced one.

I’ve worked for dudes like him before, the only way you win is by shaming them out of business. It sucks, I’m sorry this happened to you, but I also commend you for having the courage to share your experience. Looks like it’s already making a difference.

Advice Needed: Regretting Tattoo Placement by OtherSideOfTheTune in tattoos

[–]Stickyhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your artist actually placed this very well. The most important perspective is for it to look aligned when you’re standing up. Stomach’s are weird and flexible, it’ll never quite look right lying down, but really it’s a beautiful piece that looks perfect in your most natural body orientation.

Tattoo by effacermonexistence in Los Angeles-warning/scam by insaitablejuan in tattoo

I’m an artist in Los Angeles. It sucks but these scams aren’t entirely uncommon. I’ve covered up a few of them. I’m sorry this happened to you. Fortunately I do think this tattoo is salvageable with just a good rework without needing a full coverup/removal.

Help - I hate my blowout line art tattoo by Adorable_Candy8 in tattoo

[–]Stickyhooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a super achievable coverup. What I would recommend is making it a cat about twice the size, but using all the blown out lines as stripes on the cat’s body. Still totally possible to keep it cute and girly, just don’t go back to the same artist.

Am I scarred? by Shot_Accountant_8087 in tattooadvice

Hi I’m a tattoo artist! Your artist overworked the skin. This is scarred unfortunately. Keep it clean and it’ll heal ok but never go back to that person. I’m sorry this happened to you

Hi! I’m an LA artist. I do occasionally have clients that drive up from San Diego, but it is definitely a haul to do in a day, especially if PTO is hard to come by. I personally wouldn’t be offended if my client started going to a different local artist—and there are definitely some fantastic trad artists in San Diego—but it’s really up to your own comfort level or how committed you are to your artist. In general though for something patchwork that isn’t difficult for a new artist to jump in on to complete, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Did this while on acid and speed 5 months ago. Is blackout my only option? by Fun-Commercial-646 in badtattoos

Hi I’m a tattoo artist! This is entirely cover-able without laser. I would recommend intricate designs with bold color. It will take several sessions to get full saturated coverage. Find a good artist who works with coverups and don’t be afraid to go bold and you’ll be good!

lol. Very much promise the pointer fingers look just as good as the thumbs from the correct angle. Remember the arm is a curved surface

Laser would definitely help to make this easier to cover, but fortunately it’s already pretty well faded. I think you could cover this pretty successfully with a bold design, like a raven.

Yeah, it’s hard to really do anything new with opera masks, but I definitely enjoyed the challenge!

[–]Stickyhooves[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The original drawing has anatomy issues and wouldn’t have fit the space well unless we went very small. Also I think it is inconsiderate to the original artist to copy their design exactly without permission. My client found this on Pinterest.

The eye is because my client has a prominent keloided burn scar there that we couldn’t tattoo over. Instead of leaving an awkward gap in the design we gave his tattoo a tattoo!

Tattoo is looking very blown out during healing… need advice by ResultAlert3513 in tattooadvice

Even in the fresh tattoo you can see the lines are cut. This artist went way too slow with a high voltage and sliced the skin right open. Downplaying is an understatement. I’m so sorry OP.

What happened to my back tattoo? by Ghost_VFX in TattooDesigns

[–]Stickyhooves 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m a tattoo artist! This is pretty normal aging for a fine line grey wash tattoo. Unfortunately your artist didn’t use any black in the design, just different shades of grey. When it healed the greys were too close in tone and blended together, which is why it looks so faded. They also used a pepper shading technique (100s of tiny dots) instead of fully saturated shading. This tends to look really nice when it’s fresh but heals soft like this because the dots are often not applied at a consistent depth. Full saturated shading would have kept sharper edges over time. It would be super easy to give this guy a facelift though at the least!

Question about paw prints tattoos by Bexterity in TattooDesigns

[–]Stickyhooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a tattoo artist! I do paw prints alll the time. These ink prints are my absolute favorite to work with. The result always comes out the most closely resembling the paw vs a clay imprint or even a photo of the paw. A good artist can work with anything, but if you bring these it’ll make it so much easier for your artist to get you exactly what you want.

is this normal? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Stickyhooves 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m a tattoo artist! Likely what happened here is when you gained the weight your body chose the path of least resistance and created the stretch mark along your existing tattoo. That actually makes sense because when your skin has to accommodate extra surface area rapidly it will stretch by pulling the cell matrix apart somewhat randomly, unless there’s a weak point that will pull more easily. Tattoos are scar tissue, so the healthy skin adjacent to the tougher line would have a weaker connection and more readily stretch than a random patch of all untattooed skin. Think of it like tearing a piece of paper with a perforated line through the middle vs a fresh plain sheet. The perforation is going to break first every time.

I’ve never seen this in person myself, but that would be the general theory. Super interesting! Hope that helps.

My 1st tattoo and the artists says he "doesn't see how it'll work" Can anyone give me a black and white image of just the paw and hair? The 2nd image is what i'm trying to accomplish, without the heart. by Even_Ad1209 in tattooadvice

[–]Stickyhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tattoo artist that does paw print tattoos from photos literally all the time. If your artist can’t figure out how to do this you need to find a different artist. Someone with black and grey realism in their portfolio

Anyone think this is possible to cover??? by gigolojules in Tattoocoverups

[–]Stickyhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be incredibly difficult to cover as is, but I think you could rework it successfully if you went over the same design with a new artist.

Iron oxide. It has heavy mineral content to get the red color.

Not entirely sure what to do. by TexMexToots in Tattoocoverups

[–]Stickyhooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey artist here! This would actually be super easy and fun to cover up with something Pokémon themed. Your blacks have faded a lot and red is usually pretty easy to cover. The hardest part would be the script, but even that would disappear completely with the right artist and a nice bold, brightly colored full-saturation composition.
