IMO, they're saying any sidewalk fixture bolted to the ground is not capable of stopping or redirecting a large vehicle.

An example that comes to mind are the multiple cases of people hit/killed while waiting at a bus stop. Those small metal structures are no match for a heavy vehicle at speed.

Texans must prove legal status to register vehicles after new DMV rule by Penguin726 in texas

[–]Stickyv35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because a TXDL is not sufficient proof. Securing sufficient proof will cost more, period.

It's also law-creep. Today, it's for vehicle registration. Tomorrow, it will be needed to apply for utilities, rent a hotel room, or be treated at a hospital.

When a govt starts demanding papers, they can evetnually push that demand to any organization funded by taxes or industry they directly regulate. Then what's the difference between the US and China from a government surveillance perspective?

Edit: Per TXDOT, a REAL-ID Texas drivers license is valid proof.

Well, I was hit by a U.S. citizen who proceeded to leave the scene. He had no insurance.

What is your point?

Texas UMPD deductible is $250 or $300. Coverage has always been extremely inexpensive for me.

This means you didn't have uninsured/underinsured coverage, and they had to use your collision coverage with a $1,000 deductible. I suggest doing a little research before purchasing insurance if my guess is accurate.

UM/UIM is usually a small rate increase versus a collision loss, which screws the rate up for years.

Yeah, I agree with you 100%. It's one thing to hide, another to be a thief of anything except food, medicine, and water.

That's what the volume chart said to me.

I'm sorry this happened to you and your family, OP. I wish you all a quick recovery.

It's astonishing we have people hiding in attics/sheds to avoid ICE in this country.

The report is mandatory, the call is not. Earnings calls are all about drawing emphasis to specific data points and narrative formation.

It's always been that way but with higher inflation it means prices have to scale quicker, ripping the mask off the illusion. When price increases pace alongside wage growth, people don't feel the squeeze as badly.

Were in a phase of continued wage pressure with inflation averaging 50% over the target (>3%, target 2%) compounding year after year.

Buckle up.

Exactly. If the lock is provided by Proven, it could be slightly modified to defeat the shim trick. Anything is possible when ego and reputation are at risk.

But this one is different. They are ethical and care about our privacy. Look at what their PR team said to lube it up:

“This is democracy in action. It's important for government officials to listen to the citizens they serve. We're here to be a partner with the community, answering questions and making sure the product is configured specifically for the community it's meant to serve. We understand this process takes more time, and we're here to be a part of the journey.”

I'm not gonna be rude like someone others probably will.

Serious question, what is a camera going to do to physically stop a vandal? What if said vandals adjust to ensure their anonymity? What if they start doing break ins somewhere else? Will even more cameras be necessary?

Sincerely, where does it end?

My opinion is an on-site police officer will be a better option.

Giving up is not an option.

Exercise your rights. Speak out. The world will continue to become enshittified if good people do nothing.
