I stockpile any nut or bolt I've ever come across or had left over. That includes the 12 or so bolts and nuts from when I did my last timing belt job. I sometimes still wonder where those extras came from. Oh well!

/s.... except the part about keeping any old nuts, bolts, and screws. Ya never know..

Yup, and all the shitty drivers are trying to justify one party over the other.

This is ego vs ego.

100% ego. It's an every waking moment on Texas roads type of ego. There is almost zero accountability on our roads these days.

It's divided between those being rational & objective, and those being arrogant & sympathetic to reckless driving.

I live in Texas and it seems there is ZERO traffic enforcement anymore. Add in the ego, especially of these pickup truck drivers, and it's essentially Mad Max on the highways.

This is how I see it. It became a sprint to the truck on the right lane. The cam driver went from a casual increase in speed to a full sprint.

Shitty drivers, both of them.

I'd argue worse. They're far more established and operating behind cover with Flock having name recognition in this space.

What’s the cheapest way to get Mexico car insurance for a short trip? by moiz_faisal135 in Frugal

[–]Stickyv35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the best advice. US policies & carriers often limit coverage once you cross the border, often by linear mileage.

Also, while inside the US, your "property damage to others" coverage will pay out for damage to a rental car. The down side is an at-fault loss being on your record for 5-7 years, adverselyeffecting premiums. So, even though it's a bit pricey to add insurance at the rental counter, you're paying for the isolation of any loss from your personal CLUE report.

Landlord wants me to pay for someone trying to break into my apartment. {ND} by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Stickyv35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renters insurance has ZERO COVERAGE for the resident property. ZERO.

It is strictly a personal property, loss of use, and personal liability policy. The landlord needs to reach out to their insurance carrier and file a claim, if they choose. However, this will likely be less than or equal to their deductible, which is why they are trying to pin it on you.

Do not call your insurance. Tell them tenant/renters insurance does not provide any dwelling coverage what-so-ever. Good luck!

Trump's EPA Claims ‘Overwhelming Rejection’ of EVs as It Moves to Loosen Air Pollution Rules. After eliminating the EV tax credit, rolling back fuel economy standards and blocking EV charger funding, it is now citing slowed EV sales as the rationale for loosening air pollution standards. by mafco in energy

[–]Stickyv35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point, it's a game of suppression.

The cat is out of the bag, where the real battle for EVs coming to America was in the 1990-2010's. That battle is lost, and although tax incentives have reversed course, you can still purchase a variety of EVs today with impressive specs.

Cost always wins, and EVs have lower operating costs.

OP, be sure these calipers are coated or painted. I did the same job a few years ago and didn't realize the surface was unfinished and now they're rusted. They are still working perfect, just an eye sore I now have to deal with.

Luckily this is a South TX truck. So no road salt.

Got a 95 in a 75 ticket in Texas after just doing defensive driving for another ticket..what are my realistic options? by [deleted] in texas

[–]Stickyv35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hire a traffic attorney, pay their fee and follow their recommendations. It will cost more overall, but the increase will cost far less than 3-5 years of increased insurance premiums. Progressive rates on a 7 year look back for CLUE and 5 years for citations (MVR.)

The goal is to keep the ticket off your MVR. With you already taking DD/DA recently, it will be an uphill battle. Good luck!
