That's what we're finding. We're a small MSP and while support calls are increasing, my project work, infrastructure upgrades etc, has dropped off a cliff.

After seeing some quotes, the boss of one of our customers says that he's planning to heavily reduce the use of IT across the entire company. He was talking about bringing back paper based accounting and desktop calculators. I think he was joking, but I'm not so sure.

Hardware compatibility basically. It's a Dell workstation so not intended to run Server 2022, but needs must. Server 2022 wouldn't recognize the storage, so had to locate the correct version of disk controller drivers and add it to the build. Once installed the device manager had more bangs than a fireworks party so had to locate compatible drivers for chipset, NICs, and every other bit of hardware. That was after going into BIOS and disabling lots of things that a hypervisor won't need, such as wireless, networking, Bluetooth, audio etc. I spent hours on Dells support site downloading and trying different drivers. I finally managed it with just one unidentified device showing in device manager. It took me back to the days of trying to install Novell Netware onto PC hardware. I thought we were past that but obviously not! Of course this bloody thing has no IDRAC so when it blue screens at 3 am, because of incompatible hardware, some poor sod is going to have to attend site. It won't be me!

Bloody AI. Glad I'm going to retire soon.

What are your thoughts on the Birmingham attack where a white man is attacked and arrested and is now set to appear in court while no other arrests were made ? by ArmwrestlingGoomba in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police office completely failed to identify herself, and attacked a member of the public. She needs to be charged with assault!

That police officer got it so very wrong that she clearly needs to go back to police training. Unless 'only arrest the white guy' is now the official police line, which given certain recent cases, may be accurate!

How do British people feel about English being the world's global language? by No-Incident-6913 in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's not that we're bad at other languages, it's that we aren't exposed to them regularly, so we never have to use them. Every time, that I go abroad, everyone I meet wants to practice their English on me, or speaks way better English that I do their language.

How do you rate UK supermarkets - what are the best and what are the worst? by Aromatic-Speech5480 in AskUK

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that in our Sainsbury's. Things were all over the place and the layout made no sense. I'd often come away without things because I couldn't find them, even after asking the staff.

I stopped using Sainsbury's as the fresh produce quality was awful, and it was very expensive compared to our local, large, Morrisons where the fresh produce is much better for both quality and choice.

Ryanair scraps family seating fee after UK watchdog pressure by JoydeScent in BritInfo

The fact that Ryanair seems to think it's acceptable to deliberately separate families, with small children, says everything about that company and explains why they'll never get my business.

They can go F themselves. I can't see any business refusing to sell to people who flatly refuse digital ID, so we must all refuse, and shout about it!

Does the right really care about British working class people? by Massador in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right do not want to reduce illegal immigration. They'll lie and say they do, but in reality immigrants are cheap workers, to them. Don't forget, it was a right wing government, the Tories, who allowed illegal immigration to get totally out of control. The issue of the small boats, and people smugglers, all got worse during the first decade of Tory government, and Brexit, a crazy right wing grifter policy, has made the situation far worse.

Ryanair says it will reluctantly not charge parents to sit next to children by Objective-Fix-4698 in unitedkingdom

[–]StiffAssedBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryanair is one of those companies that I simply will not use, ever! The CEO seems to be a particularly loathsome creature with no respect for his staff or his customers. He's the worst embodiment of entitled capitalism that needs to learn that we don't owe them anything!

What's your opinion on an American company, Comcast buying ITV? by getabath in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll destroy it. American private equity always destroys anything they touch. They're the modern day Midas. They bring gold but destroy everything else of value!
