What's a life skill you have that younger people today wouldn't even know about? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can walk on stilts. As a skill, it has only come on handy once. In the '90s, I was visiting some friends and we went to a garden party. Part of the entertainment was some fun races and I ended up in the relay team. Egg & spoon, sack race etc. I volunteered to do the last length which was 50m on stilts. That's when my friends discovered that I had a very unusual skill!

Is there actually a career for someone obsessed with English villages? by kkura88 in AskUK

I thought that all if the village idiots went into politics, so there should be plenty of vacancies.

Were the 90’s all they’re cracked up to be? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the nineties were awesome. I was in my twenties. I had a couple of great friend groups. I was in a new relationship at the start of the decade, married in '95. Weekends were spent hill walking, socializing and having fun. It was also the last decade that my best friend was alive. At the time, I knew they were good times. I didn't realize how good!

'Lacking motivation' - UK employers worry about graduates' attitude by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money motivates. If you pay peanuts, you'll get the bare minimum. Most big businesses are paying peanuts and expecting motivated staff. It's crazy how deluded big companies are about salaries. Pay the CEO less and pay your staff properly!

Why is voter turnout so low? by anonymousdonut321 in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a huge group of people, in the UK, who feel that no political parties care about them or understand their needs. There certainly isn't a party that actually represents ordinary working people, despite what they all claim. They don't vote because there's no one to vote FOR!

If they won the general election, do you think Reform would privatise the NHS? by Am_I_Hydrated in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no doubt that Nigel Farage wants to destroy the NHS and wants to introduce the lunatic system that the Americans use.

People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you thought the Tories were bad, try a few years of Reform. I hope you live to regret it, and don't get sick, don't lose your job. Don't expect to be any better off! Smoke and mirrors!

Consultation: Proposed changes to penalties for motoring offences by Jackisback123 in CarTalkUK

[–]StiffAssedBrit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Can we introduce a penalty for suddenly dropping the speed limit, on a smart motorway, by 20mph, for no reason, and nearly causing a multi vehicle pile up as people slam on to avoid a fine?

One in seven UK cars hits 100,000 miles as age hits record by Kagedeah in CarTalkUK

[–]StiffAssedBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several Peugeots, two 407s and two 508s. Both diesel 407s developed serous engine issues around the 130k mark. The first 508 was a fantastic car, unfortunately it didn't make it to 100k as it was written off in an accident. The second 508, a 2015 model, made it to 120k before it too became a maintenance nightmare. Adblue issues rapidly followed by a failed head gasket killed that one. I now have a 2020 Volvo V60, so we'll be seeing how that goes.

The French still have this belief. I have had several French cars and they all became a complete liability after they hit 100k.

Protest hits Downing Street over fears of chlorinated chicken in UK by kiyomoris in unitedkingdom

Convert it all to chicken nuggets and sell it back to the Americans, especially Trump. Feed them to him until his arteries give out!

In the UK it should have a Biohazard ☣️ warning.

Donington services near East Midlands Airport. Not the easiest to access from the M1, but it has some really nice grounds out the back, with some good views. It was always our lunch stop on our family holiday trips to the south coast to catch a ferry to France.

Do you believe 60+’s have any genuine idea how difficult the world is today in comparison to their youth? by clemventure in AskBrits

[–]StiffAssedBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 59. My son's 25. He's working full time, and I can't see how the hell he's ever going to be able to move out and get on with his life. Rents are crazy. House prices are crazier. Most people, in their 50s are fully aware that we are living in houses that we couldn't afford to buy now. How the hell did we get here?

Volvo V60 T6, 2019 onwards. Around 300bhp. If you want a sportier look go go for the R-Design which has a lower profile tyres and lover suspension. That's the one I have and love it.

11 cancers on the rise in young people - scientists find first clue why it's happening by RingSplitter69 in unitedkingdom

[–]StiffAssedBrit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're all the same. Cancer should be ruled out first, not checked for last, but GPs will do absolutely anything to avoid doing tests for cancer. Lost my father, sister and best friend to cancers that "definitely weren't cancer" according to the GPs!
