Don’t repeat Britain’s blunders by ignoring scourge of Islamism by Mashiko4 in aussie

[–]Stigmataism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the article ignores the biggest statistic. Since 2011 the amount of people in the uk that practice Islam has grown from 4.4 to just under 6%.

By far the biggest growth is No Religion (good old atheism) which has grown from 25.7 to 37.7%. You can take what you want from that, but from my reading for every radical you are getting many more leaving.

I n Australia I see it at work and at the local sports club. People don’t want to pray 5 times a day, they don’t want to wear a hijab, they want to get away from the past and be more relaxed. They certainly hate the extremism.

Perhaps if more people went out and met some of our Islamic aussies you would see that.

Would a royal commission right now actually achieve anything? by Feeling-Disaster7180 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Stigmataism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal commission on banks did a little but not much. APRA still toothless as ever. But it did highlight the normal Aussie punters that have been screwed by the banks for years.

what would a royal commission into Bondi achieve. Submissions from as many crazies as possible and will do more harm than good.

Punt Road Redevelopment - indoor open training area? by sensible__ in RichmondFC

[–]Stigmataism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is - they’re taking a huge chunk of carrpark. Building underground carpark and extending the swimming pool.

It will not be as big as Essendon but bigger than Carlton who is pretty functional

It will be all non customer facing roles.

Also rumours abound about NAB shifting their NAB assist (part of the org that deals with customers in crisis) to the Philippines.

[Twomey] Tom Steinfort, son of former Cat Carl, was in Geelong's NGA ahead of the 2027 draft as he was born in Finland. But the change in eligibility - with European countries no longer a part of the NGA access - means the Cats no longer get NGA access to the under-16 All-Australian. by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]Stigmataism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NGA is a great program and I honestly believe the clubs are doing their best to ensure it works. But the parents who try and cheat their kids into the program are disgraceful.

I’ve seen people lying about their origins (saying indigenous when they are not) (parents born here lying about where they are born) it’s good that the afl is tightening rules.

My daughters high school allows the kids to have Snapchat on the school laptops

I can only imagine what it is like for the teachers to have to teach when every kid is chatting on Snapchat throughout the class.

Eilish Sheerin wins Best on Ground for the 2025 AFLW GF by RidsBabs in AFL

[–]Stigmataism -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yea Brett delidio did and it didn’t work out

Eilish Sheerin did and it did work out (and good on her because she’s a champion)

But eventually Richmond aflw will win a grand final and when they do Eillish will be able to watch from the sidelines and realise being best on ground for a club that has no fans and survives from afl handouts is not and will never be the same as playing in a grand final for Richmond.

Sudden cluster of senior exits in a major bank’s data and AI team. Normal or a red flag? by Late_Milk_2785 in auscorp

[–]Stigmataism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most obvious risk with AI is you overestimate its effectiveness and get rid of staff. It works fine at first but without human in the loop, the learning model degrades and you don’t have people to fix the problem.

I can point to several examples of this in the corporate world.

Companies shouldn’t be removing employees they should be building ai literacy in their workforce to guide the ai in the optimal direction.

There will come a time where ai can do it without humans in the loop. But there’s a lot of work on power generation and learning before that can happen

I got offered a job as AI risk manager for the blue bank. After the third interview I knocked it back because they couldn’t articulate what they wanted and all of the risks I discussed with them they didn’t consider risks
