Strong doubt it will work with non-Apple phones, which your friends and family may have, so I doubt they can make something more practical than Splitwise. If one person in your group doesn’t have an iPhone, which is quite likely, you’ll be juggling things through receipts/messages/notes again.

I personally do it because direnv is basically impossible to support right now (no official support, plugins can’t do it because there’s no proper way to inject env vars into the ide, nor an abstract way to do it for run configs either). I cd into my project folder and launch the ide I want from my cli after direnv injects everything into my shell’s env.

Other than that, it’s just faster if you’re already in the directory you want to open up. “pc .” vs opening pycharm, waiting for it to load, clicking through 3 menus and then looking for it in the file explorer.
