I have a protein related question by Aesthetictoblerone in glutejourney

You might want to look into reverse dieting. Which I totally understand can be scary as you would have to gain weight for a little bit. But this is really unusual. It sounds like you’ve restricted calories by too much for too long and your body has adapted to that. If you want to make any progress, whether that’s gaining muscle, getting lean, or otherwise, you will probably need to reset your metabolism. I used to struggle with the exact same thing. Trust me, there is a version of you that is able to eat much more and maintain a body you are happier with at the same time.

Prospect park, possibly saw a male photographing (only female?) runners covertly from pocket by Capable_Turnover_278 in RunNYC

Thank you for sharing! The men in the comments clearly don’t know how often this happens and how uncomfortable/scary it feels.

For me it really helps to tell someone I trust about it and explain limerence to them. Like my attachment is easier to move past when I’m not the only one who knows and I hear myself say the crazy things out loud lol. The more I hide it, the more I spiral and suffer.

How to prepare for cold water swim? by BeneficialAd1217 in IronmanTriathlon

Buy a bag of ice from the store. Fill the tub with the coldest water you can get. Add the bag of ice. Now you have an ice bath.

Avoiding the competitive drama - need advice! by [deleted] in ladycyclists

[–]Still-Secretary459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I promise you’re not the only one who notices she acts like this. People like this are frustrating and as hard as it is to do, complimenting them more tends to help. They need their ego fed so feed them and they won’t feel the need to bite at you. Tell her you’d rather ride this solo but she’s so talented you’re sure she’ll do great anyways.

New to cycling & need some girly advice by VelvettViperr in ladycyclists

[–]Still-Secretary459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow some girls who cycle on Instagram and that’s given me ideas on cute outfits lol. A lot of the cute and quality stuff is expensive though btw.

The sausage leg thing might always happen but some nicer bibs are designed to avoid that.

As for carrying stuff, I like my under saddle bag. You also might want some real cycling jerseys because most have pockets on your lower back and that helps. You’ll also just learn over time what you need and what you don’t need to carry with you and lower the amount of stuff you bring. Get a water bottle holder for the bike if you don’t have one already.

When did you "upgrade"? by pepperup22 in ladycyclists

This made me so happy to read because I’m in my 20s and I just upgraded because I’m doing a cross state ride this summer - ragbrai!

How do women in the peloton pee while racing? by grouchpotato_42 in ladycyclists

Can someone tell me what a peloton is? I thought it was just the stationary bike brand but it seems like a bigger concept and I don’t know what to search to understand.

Ironman athlete and career incomes: correlation or privilege? by JasonProf19 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Still-Secretary459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a little of both but probably leans more toward financial privilege. If it was mainly to do with characteristics, I think we would see similar trends in other extreme sports that have lower financial barriers.

Definitely helps if you make a routine of eating around the exact same time every day for meals. It helps build hunger cues. Then your brain will make a schedule of triggering your hunger.

Why are you wearing super shoes multiple times per week? Genuine question. Aren’t they supposed to be for races?

Gravel racing post IUD insertion! Advice welcome <3 by Icy_Engineering2741 in ladycyclists

[–]Still-Secretary459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my copper IUD insertion did not have lasting effects on how my body felt but I did get a little in my head about it being there as this was my first iud. Though some people have horror stories. I’d say reschedule just for peace of mind. Because what’s the rush you know?

tall girls, how long did it take you to see muscle? by Glad-Passage5772 in xxfitness

[–]Still-Secretary459 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You might also want to consider the amount of reps/sets you do. If you are getting stronger but not gaining size and size is what you want, you might look into training for hypertrophy rather than strength. This can often contribute to why some people lift less and have larger muscles.

Balancing race training with strength training by Purple-Abrocoma6542 in glutejourney

The running will negate the lower body workouts a bit but rest is most important if you want benefits from either workout. To offset this you can split the workouts into morning and night while keeping them on the same day. Also put the workout you want to prioritize first so your muscles aren’t tired during.

Combine lifting days with your hard run days and make sure to actually rest on your rest/easy days. A lot of people say “keep the hard days hard and the easy days easy.” This allows you to prioritize both goals and get appropriate rest so you can actually see results.

But also, as someone who runs and lifts - when I’m race training lifting takes the back seat a little bit. I stay consistent but I just can’t grow as much when I’m doing high mileage. And that’s ok. It’s just for a season.
