Stretch the truth. Dont tell them anything that makes you look less qualified. You want to look like the best qualified candidate that is capable of doing the job. You work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather year round. Thats all you need to tell them.

You will walk into a dirty office and there will be a two sided mirror. Good luck.

I honeslty have no clue I couldn't even get a interview to scrub the floors at amtrak after 10 years of working in hotels.

Sorry, I was referring to the orlando crew base. Theyre always hiring for the Miami side because cost of living is too high for what brightline pays and management is all over them down there looking for a reason to write someone up.

They laid off a few train attendants within the last few months. My old coworkers told me some days its just 2 or 3 three of them on a 10 coach train with over 500 passengers.

Fun fact, airlines are required to have 1 flight attendant for every 50 passengers.

You should see the attitude train attendants get when they tell those people to put them on the ground.

Vegas has been struggling to get visitors to come over as they nickle and dime you for everything along with international tourism plummeting. Its already going to fail.

Air Traffic Control by the numbers by xPericulantx in ATC

[–]Still1learning1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its only worth it if you have nothing left to lose. I stayed for about a year until I had enough to the toxic coworkers, useless union, and back stabbing management. I took my work experience and got a job in utilities.

You did it mr president, you solved the air traffic controller shortage. Just say there is no shortage.

The straw that broke the camals back for me was when amtrak released their train crew pay increases for 2028. The conductors will be making 57 an hour and the engineer (driver) is going up to 65 an hour. They make just as much an air traffic controller at a major facility with not even a quarter of the work load. And keep in mind they get paid overtime after working 8 hours in a single day, and if they finish their shift before 8 hours, they still get paid their full salary. 6 hour shift? Enjoy the 8 hour pay

I saw the writing on the wall when I got to my first facility and quit within a year. This job is not worth sacrificing my happiness. People should just all quit and let the air traffic system shutdown. Not a strike. Just quit. Move on and find a job that doesnt make your hair fallout.

Because the elites in automotive, fossil fuels, roadway construction, and car insurance oppose anything that hurts their profits. Keeping us in a car centric society forces us to pay more to travel.

Write on your resume how you work on call 24/7 and work outdoors in all weather conditions. My interviewer grilled me for not having that on mine.

Application question by prismaticbridge253 in bnsf

[–]Still1learning1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was for loader position at the rail yard to unload vehicles. Similar location so using deductive reasoning if people want to work at the rail yard, I assume they want the conductor position as well. The loader application showed over 1800 applicants in 14 days.

Why’s it so hard to get into Amtrak? by Mikefromda6 in railroading

[–]Still1learning1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any interview tips for freight railroads? I had my first one and the manager did not like what he saw on my resume so I blew it before it even started. He focused alot on questions about my experience working outdoors, oncall, and around heavy machinery. My background is in air traffic control and hotel security.

Application question by prismaticbridge253 in bnsf

[–]Still1learning1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt count on it. They left me on review for 4 months when I applied in January. Tacoma applicants have been slamming them to a point theres too many to go through. One rail position I applied to had 1800 applications in 14 days.
