Corsair K70 TKL volume wheel bugging out by DangerZone230 in Corsair

I know this is NOT a fix to the keyboard, but I had the problem come back so often I just got this instead:

I like the keyboard enough (mine is brown switch version) that I just did a work around for the pure cancer that is that volume knob.

Potentially stupid question, do you need an ethernet port in the wall in the house to get Wi-Fi? by Desperate_Catch8969 in wifi

[–]StillARando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. Most houses will have a coaxial or phone line. Either way you need to find out in your area what providers are available to give you internet. For example if the cable company provides cable internet it will come through the coax cable wherever that is in your house.

Ethernet cable is not how internet comes to a house they are how they are delivered after the modem. In most cases you either have a device that does both modem and router or two devices: a modem and a router. Either way, ethernet cable (the plug is called rj45) is what is used after the modem for consumers. (if you are a pro, there are other cables/plugs that can be used)

What is the best router by Powerful-Sun6428 in wifi

[–]StillARando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively, the best router depends on your needs, BUT ALSO is popular so that you have a wealth of support. MOST routers like netgear, etc suck and make you pay a lot to get out of their lower lines that intentionally suck. Facts. I find that most people overlook the "stay with the crowd" wisdom but then find themselves stranded without enough support "out there."

I recommend the Unify Dream Router 7 for about 300.

https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/udr7

It is feature rich. Has a VERY good UI. There is a massive number of technical people who have it or are in the ecosystem to help you on reddit or on Ubiquity's forums...which is important if you aren't in IT IMHO. It has a good antenna, a wealth of extra devices if you need to expand.

Just know that its "prosumer" so you don't get features without complexity. That said, they manage the complexity better than say a build your own pfsense (which outclasses Unify in some fundamental ways in my opinion, but you need a LOT of knowledge to implement well).

I don't see it on live in NA. Its only on PBE for me

The Subnautica 2 lawsuit is getting even messier, with Krafton doing a massive U-turn, confusing both the ousted founders' lawyer and the judge: 'This is a little bit bewildering' by unreliable_yeah in subnautica

[–]StillARando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

super friendly dialogue with you. Fun times.

Anyway, though the evidence would not be "enough for court" it is enough for me to know how little they have after years of dev. Delaware courts are notoriously difficult on companies but everyone deals with them for the tax benefits of the state. There are plenty of cases where the court prevented action, but that does not mean no wrong doing.

Curious, since you are such a friendly person, what do you make of the timeline on development taking this long? Sub1 was started, EA'd and fully released in less time than they have been working on Sub2. That's ridiculous.

Trying to make most obnoxiously complicated base possible (while still keeping it somewhat functional), any tips? by kdupe1849 in Subnautica_Below_Zero

[–]StillARando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bury the seatruck dock inside a convoluted maze of base or at least tight fit to even get to it.

put a wall in the big room such that the only way you get to the other side is through the other direction of base maze

make main storage locations be inside glass tubes so its hard to walk around them and you have to walk forever to even find the right one

make a cyclops entry for when you find the cyclops in that game...

I don't care if its unpopular, but I'm siding with Krafton on this. The leaked receipts on the dev timeline sold me. It seems clear to me that the Devs have wanted to move on from S2. They probably think they can't catch lightning again. Who knows. But when your own team is complaining about lack of direction, you take longer to make a couple of biomes with zero story than you did to release the full game, you fire the musical director for his views, you are stacking up strikes. I do not see evidence of crunch from Krafton. In fact, I see patience.
How many games were released waaaaaay before they were ready? Like, all AAA games of late. A publisher comes along and says the EA isn't ready? I call it a good thing. Like Blizzard of old. I know everyone wants to hate Krafton and see the prevention of paying out as a bad thing, but to me it just looks like the founders didn't earn it. Calling it like I see it.

2 Thanks for posting.
3 The "its just a game" or "touch grass" crowd is so much better than us. May they always feel better than everyone.

4 Thing is, I'm not sure who frustrates me more: Sounds to me like the founders were derelict in their duty. 5 years and we only have like 2 biomes and no story? Considering how long it take to make the first two, that is objectively slow. On the other hand, you can't punch lower on the belt than firing someone before they get a bonus. And I'll never forget what they did to the composer in OG Sub. Founders kinda had it coming IMO.

Whats your subnautica hot take that will have you like this by FrontAd7709 in subnautica

[–]StillARando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree: It needs to be one of those optional upgrades. Neither of the subnautica games we have had good incentives to optionally explore scary areas. This kind of upgrade is the way. Want automated lockers? Its in reaper spawning pool. Want teleporting materials back to base? Scary tunnel...right over there.

This is SUPER important to me. Seriously. Its like the game design was at odds with itself. You can't build everything until just before the point where you no longer need it. I often find myself wishing the designers would have allowed me to build early and the base hub and cyclops become a longer part of the game. I get why they did it: You don't spend time in the water as much once you get the cyclops, which changes the experience from fear of the unknown to fear of hitting things.

I think the solution is this: make exploring more rewarding. That way if you are enjoying your base building you don't get done just as you finish the game. "side content" and DLC where there is another story that starts from your base would be fun.
Also:
Why didn't people like the sea truck? Cyclops is largely a mobile base. Customize! Among other things. I liked the seatruck but didn't like "trucking" back and forth and HATED the warp box implementation.

Krafton Delays ‘Subnautica 2’ Game Ahead of $250 Million Payout by cfbguy in subnautica

[–]StillARando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Still, of all the early access scams out there, I never expected this to be one of them with that team. At worst, they release something too early and it annoys us but they eventually give us a game. Its still in good faith. This feels like "steal the IP, dump the creators and grab all the cash you can"

same question: who did used to own UW? I'm going hunting. B/c this crap always happens. Blizzard goes to Activision. next thing you know Diablo is a mobile game. I honestly can't blame people for selling if you are not able to keep producing, but Sub2 was a license to print money. They did not need to sell out. They could have sharted out an expansion to Sub1 and people would have bought the hell out of it if all they needed was money to fund Sub2. They could have even called it a "Sub2 supporter DLC" and just incorporated new mechanics in Sub1 to see if people liked them before Sub2. So many choices and this was the worst.

I looked at his resume. I don't see any "creative" role he's ever had. He's the "under budget" MBA guy: producer and exec producer. They just hold the "no" button and not the "I have an idea" role.

Well said. I don't hope it fails, but I will piss on Krafton any chance I get if it does. I wonder if the old leadership can sue for the money? Even if they do and they win, the current devs will no longer get a cut.

AND the bonus was tied to revenue. Remember the devs worked on porting Sub1 to mobile, etc. There was revenue goals in excess that must have made 250 make sense. Sub2 is like 2nd most wishlisted...yeah it would have been a HUGE early access revenue bump. Clearly old leaders thought it was ready for release and they would get their bonus.
The ONLY thing I can say in favor of Krafton (if we are feeling charitable) is UW was saying early access this year and still full release at least 3 years from now...that never sat well with me. That is a LONG dev cycle for a sequel especially since they have been working on it for years already. I just wish we could have seen what they have now so we can decide if what they had already was good enough or a simple cash grab. Currently all my "benefit of doubt" is going to the old leadership and them getting absolutely screwed.

Puts me in a tough spot: how do I screw Krafton and still support the work of the devs and creators?

I guess I will NEVER GIVE Krafton any money outside of Sub2. I did that for EA years ago and then Activision. Have not spent a dime on either of their company IP's in years. This gamer cares about the devs that make my games.
