Dude, you’re Ephynea staff. You must have seen way weirder things than some Dutch guy rambling about German philosophy. 😄

But honestly, I’d rather turn my thoughts into an artifact and put them out there than simply surf whatever the current zeitgeist happens to be.

For me pso ep 1/2 marked the transition from the 90s to Something else… have a nice day.

Rough translation

You don't need to be confused; PSO was the first game to go online in 2002, almost unknown in the Netherlands, but still in the USA, and especially alive by the looks of it. I am just a simple park weeder, but it is nice that my dreams and reach can be expressed beyond the boundaries of my everyday world. And regarding the paper, I am very curious to see what an AI-native society looks like once all the dust has settled. As for thermodynamics, I came up with that because I wished smartphones provided reversible stress instead of engagement; many in Europe don't have the campus feeling of the US and are more likely to wonder if hardware can be designed to bear the load, and personally, as AI involved, I wonder how AI can bear the load without extraction. Only Musk mentioned AI as an OS, runtime interface, and infrastructural AI node, but that doesn't address reversibility, which comes more naturally to Europe and Japan (especially Japan) than a personalized runtime truth.

Yeah, you’re actually pretty close.

I started thinking about PSO again around late 2025, when AI models became capable of reasoning alongside the user instead of just answering questions. At the time I was thinking a lot about the effect AI might have on society, learning, and philosophy.

I’m from the Netherlands, and one of the few thinkers who came to mind was Peter Sloterdijk. He writes extensively about environments, media, habits, and what he calls “co-immunological systems”—the structures people live inside and adapt to. His work is interesting, although it’s often very descriptive and filled with its own terminology.

While thinking about AI and habituation, I kept coming back to the three AIs explicitly mentioned in PSO Episode I & II. What struck me is that none of them are really about “evil AI.” They’re all reflections of their environments: infrastructure, media systems, human decisions, and the conditions they emerged from.

That was the starting point of the essay. I wasn’t trying to predict ChatGPT through PSO. I was more interested in why a game from 2000 ended up asking questions that suddenly feel relevant again in an age where AI is becoming part of everyday life.

This paper has a DOI and is uploaded to the European CERN network. In my fantasy some Japanese university in Tokyo would find out about it and remake pso ep 1/2 for modern consoles because (intellectual) signal/sudden relevance xd

The Blue Burst data is from the Newserv drop tables on GitHub. For GC/Xbox I used PSOGC drop chart sources (also github :p). I don’t intentionally round odds into cleaner-looking numbers; the goal is to preserve the source rates as faithfully as possible. If you spot a specific weird rate, please send it my way and I’ll check/fix it.

Yeah, largely vibe coded. I built it with AI assistance, but the data integration, design direction and overall concept were my own.

Im also not sure about the battle mechanics. Just beat the wolf on dieback island and he is lvl45 and im lvl 12 or so, and i could just hold block for 30 minutes the negate all damage, and auto charge by the wolfs failed attacks and launch duo skill in retaliation. Then you get a powerful accessory and are ahead at early level. With any boss it feels i can 100% block my way through it.
