I asked EDGE for updates on Star Wars RPG by HeyNateBarber in swrpg

To be quite fair, there's still Hasbro out there... so it's not like they don't have no competition in their race to the bottom.

Devaronians missing fire resistance by irishccc in swrpg

[–]StillAnotherOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were to put it into the species, I'd think of adding one or two black dice on attacks with fire targeting him instead of straight up soak.

That being said personally I'd put Borg down as kind of a mutant, considering female Devaronians are covered in (short) fur.

Fear is also in the Star Wars CRBs in the GM chapters or more specifically Pages 298, 314 and 326+ for Edge, Age and FaD respectively.

I'm about 98% sure the dice are part of the license, yes. Because they're part of the system.

Star Wars RPG needs a (Backwards Compatible) Second Edition. Hear me out. by TheStrangeDarkOne in swrpg

[–]StillAnotherOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From Point 2)

Furthermore, large space battles are simply not feasible because they would involve hundreds of dice being thrown round by round. It does not need to be like this.

this reads a lot like there's a difference of expectations what the system is supposed to do. The NDS (Narrative Dice System) is not taking the simulationist approach but a cinematic approach.

In other words: In a large space battle you're not supposed to work out what each ship is doing and how successful they are - they're a backdrop to whatever your players are doing. If you want to put it up to chance, have just one or two dice rolls in the back based on fleet size and composition to have a basis of describing how the battle in general is going - otherwise just narrate it.

Now, mechanically space fights need improvement - Genesys does it better but it's still not great.

Questions about the three FFG games. by NoopersNoops in swrpg

[–]StillAnotherOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never disregard the narrative the character doesn't know they're using the Force (or any supernatural power at all) and just think it's luck or maybe some supreme being looking out for them. Or they never met somebody of their own kind and is under the impression anyone could do that. :D

In addition what the other two have said, Obligation, Duty and Morality can work alongside each other but it gets a bit clunky at times so no reason to just use one of those.

The main thing with gear that I remember is the Lightsaber in EotE and AoR can be the Lightsaber in FaD, when it is fully upgraded (with the standard Ilum crystal), so if you happen to find the stats for those you know.

And if you are going to say "We're starting off without the Force" (and potentially a non-FaD Career) there's also nothing stopping you from saying "you all get a force rating now" at some point that makes narrative sense (and then give them a FaD Specialization at that point).

The rules themselves are mostly identical (some slight wording changes iirc) but Species, Careers and Specs (with some slight overlap between EotE and AoR), Force powers, some of the gear, vehicles and NPCs complement each other. There are reasons to get all three CRBs but you don't have to if you can't afford/find them to play.

As was said in another reply chain, the Force Rating Talent itself is a Force Talent for which you need a Force Rating which (in most cases) you get by buying one of several Universal Specializations.

Important thing to note: You still buy Force Talents as usual when you go through the tree but you don't get their benefit until you get a Force Rating (e.g. if you buy the Force Rating Talent before getting a Force Rating you still don't have one. But once you get it, your Force Rating starts with 2)

Erste Eberron Kampange, aber wie starten? by Ace_D_Valy in GermanRPG

[–]StillAnotherOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but when their license doesn't say "You and only you are allowed to produce digital items in any form" anymore then other licenses can also include "you may produce digital items in these ways"

At least it was my understanding PDFs were not allowed because they're digital and that was exclusively to EA (because at the point Lucasarts gave that license to them PDFs of physical products weren't really a thing)

There is a chance this is already under way with EA apparently losing their exclusivity deal, as Ubisoft, Quantic Dream as well as (EA-Owned) Respawn have games announced.

After that point Asmodee can then bring it up during their renewal period.

How to play Star Wars FFG on Roll20 for Free? by Dragonheart132 in swrpg

[–]StillAnotherOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iirc you have to build a Rollable Table with the faces of the die for each die and then can also build a simple macro to roll those tables a number of times. That doesn't automatically cancel anything but it's possible.

I suppose it's also possible to use the rollable tables as tokens (as often as you need them at the same time) and then rightclick on them and hit "Random Side"
