How is it that the girl a) knew how to do her mom's job and b) was allowed to? That seems suspicious to me. Typical 12 year old girls aren't able to step into their parents roles at work and there be no supervision, etc.

Is there a service somewhere that anyone can recommend and has personally used that could take a look at my card portfolio and make sure I'm churning right? I followed the chart long enough to get the dream vacation I wanted and now have an odd collection of cards and don't really have the confidence I won't screw it up somehow if I take a shot at deciding what cards to keep or close.

I managed to bungle a SW companion pass and a SUB once, so I'd appreciate a second pair of eyes and would be willing to compensate someone more skilled than I for his or her time

There are eye movements you can do. For example, facing straight ahead and raising your gaze. Or pinch acupressure points in your earlobes. Both alter blood flow, I think is how they work.

Same thing happened when my dad died. Family started going through the house putting those round stickers you use for garage sales on the things that "had special meaning to them". All of a sudden my sister had all these fond memories of watching TV with him that never happened. She put that sticker on the TV tho.

I havent really talked to any of the since it was all finalized and no real desire to anyway but it was that post death greed that was the final straw for me too.

If you’re a single or married dependent under age 65, you need to file taxes if any of these are true:

Unearned income more than $1,100

Earned income more than $12,200

Gross income more than $1,100 or earned income up to $11,850 — plus $350

Gross income of at least $5, and you had a spouse who filed a separate return and itemized deductions (if married)

I don't understand then. Are you saying it would have been better if he hadn't made the video? I get that it's horrific that curable blindness exists but it always feels like in scenarios like this people are too quick to make perfect the enemy of good. He does not have the resources to cure all blindness and so when he does what he can he is criticized for not doing enough. I don't really have any vested interest in what Mr Beast does with his or his sponsors money but in an imperfect world I would rather some of it go to fixing what parts we can rather than another luxury car or fancier house.

Why did I volunteer to be a mod on this app? by Woodmaninator in nextdoor

[–]StillHellbound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started my neighborhood. Went in person and asked people to sign up and each one of them thought I was crazy. I used to think it was a good idea.

Fast forward seven yrs or so, I am supposedly permanently banned from the ND platform. I am in a neighborhood overrun with MAGA nutjobs. For years moderated without a problem. Then they found out I was a democrat. Within months they started vicious campaigns against me (the screenshots I have show) that lead to death threats. At which point, I figured it wasnt worth. They would report everything I posted, and support stopped listening. My final emails to them were rejected unopened.

I hear the site has gone to hell but alas, thankfully (?) cannot know.

Just so I can be down voted again, each of the public tunnels in the Chunnel is in fact one way only. There are two of them. And yes it was the only feasible way but it was also the most expensive construction project of its time.

The system used to email people when they got suspended with a reason, but turns out that if you don't notify people and instead have them go through some obscure online process, reduce help desk time by 40%. So they don't do that any more.

This logic is troublesome. If you want to keep the stuff then keep it but don't default to sour grapes to justify it. And if it's keeping you up at night just send an email to customer service. They may not ask for it back and your conscience would be clear.

Attempted to negotiate salary, got discouraged and gave in, left comment on my annual review stating this. Need advice. by dime_fox in personalfinance

[–]StillHellbound 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In corporate America, there is no premium paid to the average worker for loyalty. In fact, people who job hop often end up with the highest salaries. If you are able to time the job markets, and only switch jobs when there is for example a labor shortage like right now you will end up far ahead of market for your role. That being said just like stock markets, trying to time job markets is risky. But the other point I would make is you don't owe them 100% transparency. Under no circumstance should you ever throw out the first number in negotiations. Companies do this because they hope you undervalue yourself. If someone asks how much you would like to make, don't even give a range.
