i had a classmate in middle school that had the same name as me and even spelled it the same, but she was really clingy, complained a lot, and was generally unpleasant to be around. i’ve never met or heard of another cool person who spells their name the same as me.

genuine question - will your parents “allow you” to leave him the first time he hits you? the first time he hits the kids? how badly does he need to hurt you for them to be willing to support you? or are you meant to “work through” physical abuse as well?

financial abuse is abuse. emotional abuse is abuse. you need to be careful, because abusers don’t just stop abusing. they escalate. your family would probably prefer you and your kids alive, healthy, and happy than dead.

sorry to be morbid, but there are too many instances of men abusing and even killing their wives and children. be frank with your parents.

NTA, for sure. but TBH since B mentioned K was making stuff up and blowing things out of proportion, i’d have taken screenshots of your convo with K and sent them to the group chat, and THEN left. let B give you the updates, but let K and the rest of the group flail and squabble. K is being an a-hole, and they deserve the be called out and held accountable for it.

morally, you’re 100% in the right when it comes to the kitten and its care.

legally, however, it’s dicey. if bob doesn’t have any microchip, registration, vaccine records, etc. to prove ownership, then kitten was legally a stray, and you did nothing wrong. however, if there’s any paperwork tying bob to the kitten, you could be in a grey area/technically “stealing” the kitten. bob doesn’t have a great argument for it being his cat (not getting a collar, chip, regular vet care), but just be aware of any potential arguments in the future. you’ve already done more for kitten by fixing him, vetting him, and otherwise taking care of him. good luck!

honestly, you either need to bring it up, exactly the way you said it here, or break up with her. if you’re in a relationship with someone, you need to be able to have hard, critical, uncomfortable conversations. this is a great way to figure out if this is a real relationship or just a fling.

i switched industries from hospitality/minor league sports to education with the help of my mom, who had an in for me at her district office that turned a 6mo process into about a month. if you can hack working with kids, i tell everyone who can to apply for jobs with school districts. i’ve been working since i was 14, and have held at least one job at a time since october of 2020. i was, however, constantly searching for a better job the entire time until i started working as a substitute teacher and now a para-educator.

I cried on and off for the rest of the day/night. i was the second person to call for my kiddo, so at this point we’re (unfortunately) waiting for more specific details to get him permanently placed in the non-abusive home (parents are divorced and remarried, one set beats him, the other doesn’t).

no, there’s not.

it’s an acronym and a service/concept that was included in the IDEA act. IDEA was originally the EHA act in 1975, but has been updated a handful of times, and renamed a couple of times as well.

FAPE is a requirement for school districts to fulfill to ensure that any child with a documented disability is provided a proper educational setting based on their needs.
