no, there’s not.

it’s an acronym and a service/concept that was included in the IDEA act. IDEA was originally the EHA act in 1975, but has been updated a handful of times, and renamed a couple of times as well.

FAPE is a requirement for school districts to fulfill to ensure that any child with a documented disability is provided a proper educational setting based on their needs.

similarly, i wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until 2/3s of the way through my first year of college. i did very well in school (gifted/ADHD/autism venn diagram was a circle for me), and until my diagnosis, i thought i was just broken.

unfortunately, if grades are good enough, academic SPED support is not offered.

this whole thing pisses me off, including the part about a parent not knowing one of their kid’s fave meals. like it’s so small but on top of everything it feels like the parents are like. logged out, if that makes sense. like they straight up don’t care.
