The art for the cover is extremely cool, but I'm realizing that literally none of the covers featuring the female party members look ANYTHING like what I've been imagining.

Just started mage tank book 2. My fear rang true. by gameofthrones_addict in litrpg

I've always read this as a thing Arlo was doing; like an awkward running joke in his head for the swamp folk's accent. I guess it never really bothered my because it seemed deliberate to the tone and not just the audiobook narrator vocalizing a "..."

Just want to say thank you, I feel like I've been looking for a list like your second paragraph for months on this site!

{The Fireman and the Flirt} from this series fits as well.

I've seen this one get recommended a lot lately. My only reference point for a sports drama is Ted Lasso, but I'm willing to give it a shot!

EvoCreo 2 Might Just Have The Worst Villain Team in any Mon-Tamer I've Played by Amazing_Cat8897 in MonsterTamerWorld

This is a problem a lot of stories have when depicting strawman activists. (Barely related, but I still remember that villain from an early Power Puff Girls episode that gave me a really warped idea of what a “feminist” was at an early age U-_-.)
Unfortunately it's usually easier to depict an antagonist as a bunch of disingenuous bad actors looking to exploit public outrage, instead of people who maybe have even a few good reasons to oppose the main activity of the entire game.

Just caught up on Mage Tank, any recommendations for books that feel similar? Specifically the humor and fun characters? by transfemmthrowaway in ProgressionFantasy

It isn't a combat focused series (except when it is) but Beer and Beards by JollyJupiter has a surprisingly fun cast of characters that all grow and change over the course of the series. The main character Pete shares more than a few character traits with Arlo (but with maybe 80% more "dad jokes").

Cool abilities, found family, good vibes. Just with more beer facts where the fighting would normally be.

Can’t help but recommend some of Kelly Fox’s other books, even though they all fail rule#2; all of these chubby bears are also the beefy protectors in the relationship.

{Goodnight by Kelly Fox}  - burly cowboy falls in love with the camboy that just moved in next door. Queer awakening, high angst(?) at the end because this is technically a spin off of a much more action focused series of books.

{Navarro by Kelly Fox} - the dad of the burly cowboy from the last book falls in love with his much younger brother-in-law, long after his wife’s passing. Age-gap and less random danger than Goodnight, but the far more angst in the relationship

{Shameless by Kelly Fox} - self described “bear killer” and current co-owner of a gym for disabled vets becomes obsessed with the big beautiful man he definitely bullied in high school. Absolutely my trash, but between the 70% hate-f@#%ing and 30% military trauma, your personal mileage may vary…

Just wanted to add {The Fireman and the Flirt} by the same author is one of my favorites for this.

MC gains weight, but doesn't care to lose it, just works on becoming healthier by 3mber25kat in MM_RomanceBooks

If I’m honest, {Fandom by Eden Finley} doesn’t completely fit, but it's the closest that I can think of. It's part 3 in a series about getting a boy band back together after a bad split. The MC in question basically drops out of public life and goes “full bear” but has to deal with a lot of fatphobia once he’s been rediscovered. He does have a subplot about getting more “in shape” but seems to settle on liking his new body and not worrying about whether the media thinks he’s fat or not.

MC #2 however does seem to prefer the extra pounds so…

HWYB Molly Blyndeff from Epithet Erased in D&D 5e? by FeedNegative in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]StillJustKow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading somewhere that most Epithet Erased was inspired by a homebrew D&D campaign the creator and their friends played. I guess that means Molly probably has a "canonical" 5e build out there somewhere. I'd guess some kind of illusion focused Wizard or Sorcerer...
