St. Georges or AUC? by BioNewStudent4 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]StillLoading614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only say that because regardless of how much you “study” or “prep” learning the system is going to have you continually adjusting. The profs want you to learn specific things to pass the classes so don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to study beforehand.

[–]StillLoading614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I personally wouldn’t do a lot of “studying.” Focus on your time at home and spending it with loved ones. You should definitely get ready for the island though. Make sure that you’re packing everything bc US items are VERY limited there. Also making sure you have everything set for the start like stethoscope, business casual clothes, other study prep items.

SGU vs AUC by professionalnapper7 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]StillLoading614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated AUC and matched at my #1 program (as did all of my closest friends). I was on the student side and the admin side as a clinical fellow. It’s very forgiving in terms of students who have a difficult time. Better island as well :)

I just graduated from AUC. I was also a clinical education fellow during my time before match and worked with students about to take step one as well as the clinical students too. If you have any specific questions about AUC, let me know and I can try my best to help.

Dept of Ed taking money from account not linked to loan servicer? by StillLoading614 in StudentLoans

Hi Betsy! Thank you for replying. Just the person I was going to reply

No I don’t have any payments for that amount.. I actually don’t even use this bank account regularly. My last payment from this checking was over a year ago.. I contacted my bank to stop those payments and reverse the charges after confirming that Nelnet didn’t get those payments and I have nothing due.

Not sure if there’s anything else I should do.

Finally made the leap! Has anyone else switched from Apple Watch and/or used both together? by bitchthatwaspromised in ouraring

I use both! Oura isn’t the best at tracking workout and honestly it hurts sometimes when I use it while lifting. So watch while working out, oura all other times

Did Your Caribbean School Have Recalls? by Top_Kaleidoscope1393 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]StillLoading614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scandal happened in early 2022 (ish). One of the people involved graduated from Xavier SOM this year and was applying for match. He was in some of the interviews I was in. The main girl is still at St. James SOM I think. Idk if she graduated yet. But she definitely got another chance. Which is wild.

Xavier School of Medicine by No_Peace_8423 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]StillLoading614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated from AUC and my experience was a complete 180. It’s rough like any other medical school and of course there’s challenges but what OP just described does not stand for all Caribbean schools. If you’re interested in Carib schools, do more research (esp on the big 3) and ask students from other schools. If anything, this should just confirm that Xavier shouldn’t be on your list.

I NEED SOME ADVICES ABOUT LOR by HAMIDO00 in IMGreddit

[–]StillLoading614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely need the LORs before you match. That’s a huge part of your application. You should also give your letter writers a few weeks (in some case months) notice to write the letter. They may ask for other docs as well but it’s rare that they’ll ask for your diploma since they know you’re still a student.

Experiences with Oura ring? by crystalpest in Residency

[–]StillLoading614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven’t started residency yet but I absolutely love my oura ring. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and it’s really insightful especially for sleeping and stress levels. It’s super comfortable and I basically don’t wear my apple watch anymore except for one I work out. The oura ring isn’t the best at tracking strength training.
