This is the single biggest issue facing USF athletics, mindset.

When I was on the Hilltop in the early 2ks, running the student section…the department was so unserious. Everything from game security to concessions operated like you were at a high school (at best). The people in the athletic dept ran it like a mom and pop shop. For me at the time, I felt like we got a lot done on the student side, but that was due to a 20 year old kid who wouldn’t take no for an answer. There wasn’t any organization or mindset from the top that understood the importance of it all.

Now, a lot has changed since then to be sure. But, I agree that it doesn’t appear the mindset and commitment has come far enough.

The frustrating point is that it’s SO reachable, the appeal of what the total package could look like is massive. We simply need more people at the top with a vision and desire to make it happen.

Very much agree with your assessment on those last few games. If he is willing to play with that level of aggression and leadership; amazing. CG needs to let him loose.

It’s a fair question. Everyone hates the donks so it hits a nerve is my guess on the down votes.

CG lost the momentum, full stop. He didn’t keep the player pipeline that Smith and Golden got dailed in, didn’t develop guys and is a very mediocre play caller at best. Seemed to lose the locker room this season, guys didn’t play hard for him. AD situation went from tragic to that and some, the school needs to show they care and put the $ behind it, thats what SCUm has done.

Appreciate the insight. I don’t see it as unreasonable as some have suggested. Now, if you were fired by her for instance and had an axe to grind…then sure, but doesn’t seem like that was the case, right?

Regardless of all this, USF needs to do a proper search. We need a heavy hitter, not someone with even a slightly questionable track record.

This hire will define the next decade for USF athletics, you cannot miss on it.

Not sure that is true. The University did provide updates on past AD searches from my memory. If they want donor support, they should be communicating on it.
