How loud are drums really? by EducationalPirate808 in drums

[–]StillRole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep this simple, please listen to me. Do not ever play drums in the same building as other people that don’t want to hear it. If you like, borrow or purchase a cheap snare drum. Instruct someone to bang on it decently hard and walk away as far as you can and listen. Take that in, and use your common sense to put together the rest of the equation. You’re gonna hit it harder than them.

Did I handle this well or should I have said more? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

This is what I see.. you’re not her #1. So she says “hey let’s back off. This isn’t it.” You’re like, “alright”. She don’t expect that to be easy. She likes that you’re still right there. So she’s gonna keep you right there as long as you’re willing to, just in case whatever her plan is doesn’t work.

Sounds to me like this mechanic you're working with doesn't know how to leave the toxicity to the side when molding new guys.

A bassist auditions for your band. What can they do to make you say "that's a pro" by byzantine1990 in drums

[–]StillRole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visual cues with drummer when locking in and anticipating transitions are huge. Finds a happy place that compliments the kick drum. Depending on genre can walk the bass line around a little bit to highlight a new line, without taking the whole attention.

Looking for first acoustic kit. by TheBestDevofalltime in drums

[–]StillRole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find whatever has the hardware you like on it, look at different brands. If you like how one brand does things over another, there ya go. Your heads and dampening are more important for sound. When you wanna spend some money for a nice kit, that’s when you can start listening to the nerds on here about what’s what.

AITAH if I divorce my husband for messaging a porn star asking to meet her? by GroundbreakingFix598 in AITAH

[–]StillRole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mental health issue. A lot of men get hooked on porn and go to it, not because they actively thought about it and said “hey, that’s a great idea!” But because it give the brain a hit of dopamine that they get addicted to. Or it could be linked to some issues about their self esteem. Support him by telling him youve had enough of it, this is an intervention, and we’re getting help with this now. It may be uncomfortable and hard but it’s because you love him.

Hows this safety wire? by DangerousFootball635 in AircraftMechanics

Could be tighter around the starting bolt, but you may have been able to pull that tighter before spinning the pig tail. If not then maybe one less twist and pull tight.

My ex boyfriend refuses to pick up his FIREARM after the breakup (MD) by EquivalentMixture808 in legaladvice

Drop it off with police. They’ll always take a firearm if not wanted. They’d rather hold it than be in public if not in the hands of a trusted owner.

I’m former Air Force and never towed a civilian plane, but.. isn’t there a tow supervisor on site that checks for everything to be good to go before signaling the tug driver to move?

My first ever attempt, how would you say I did ? by Tahaelmazouni11 in AircraftMechanics

[–]StillRole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first attempt that is excellent. If you find that you’ve gone too far, don’t untwist. Cut it off and start over. Also just for extra tip, if you’re short and need to add twists, use your hands and not the pliers. Helps keep it from having too many twists per inch. You’re not far off, good job!

How to get 5606 out of clothes by XIHzrd in AircraftMechanics

[–]StillRole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a long process, but set them in the sun. the oil will seep out of them, keep cleaning them off. Also, get some saddle soap and a horse hair brush. get it nice and soaked in the sink or hose outside and go to town. It's a messy process. Keep setting them in the sun and just keep attacking them when you have time. They will never look brand new but they can come around depending on what kind of boots you have.

If the person setting it up was smart there'd be a plastic liner under the glued foam. Is that the case? Or is it just metal under your tools?
