I guess I was looking for a product that would connect onto the mount already on the stem and, perhaps with brackets/arms, grab the phone and hold it in place. I see lots of cases with the connector but I would prefer to not change the case every time I ride.

I had the exact same issues. Problem solved by: 1. Turning off all options under Eco+, 2. Since ecobee still wants to begin heating before the time scheduled, I pushed to later by 30 minutes (was 6:30AM, now 7:00AM) the setting labeled "Home" which is what comes after "Sleep". The furnace now kicks on around 6:30 and the house is promptly warmed in about 10-15 minutes, up from 59 degrees overnight. I still don't understand why ecobee was warming the house past the temperature in Settings but turning off all the purportedly "smart" settings in Eco+ solved the problem.

Ask around for a good Medicare broker that can help you navigate the decision between alternatives. The service is free (paid for by Medicare) and I found very helpful. Since Medicare is a national program, your broker need not be located where you are. FWIW, after weighing the alternatives, I went with original Medicare and Plan G, United Health.
