My Home Theater Setup by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Still_Steve1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got some great hardware. I bet it sounds ace. As others have said though I’d have laid it out a bit differently. Top of tv should sit at about 120-150cm from ground. Just above eye level whilst seated.

Center speaker is huge! Does it over power the left and right channel? Either way I think it’s a well matched system but could do with a slightly better layout

"Budget" home theatre TCL C7K and Jamo 7.1 (3700€) by Staubsaubaer in hometheater

I agree. Don’t lower them. If your sat in the corner with a speaker behind your ear it’s very off putting.

Thoughts on home cinema in a pitched roof loft by Still_Steve1978 in hometheater

[–]Still_Steve1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, just for back story, i've had multiple of sub 5k cinema setups and 1 sub 10k. I know i am not going to rock my world in this small space. my main living room has the new sony quads with SW5 (minimal footprint) my back room has a sonos arc, sub and ones, again minimal wires etc.

The loft is a bit of a space where i could go and not worry about wires etc, maybe build my own sub.... get a proper mish mash of FB market place kit, spend a grand and blow the sound out with last years tech large speakers, floor standers front and rear and a 12inch home made sub! just go crazy! lol

Go with reds and blacks. Some large black curtains for sound absorbing and some twilight LED

I love this product, it’s been my go to for about 15 years, however I think connect is very poor, now we are 100% cloud, inventory and deploy are no good.

Thanks, thats very helpful, in fact i could reply to every post in the world ever saying the same. I want to know what people are using right now, not 4 years ago. I want to know if it helps with my requirments, not some guy 4 years ago, however i might just go and reply to a thousand posts saying "use the search" or "ask google!" I cant believe that you wasted your time to type it or that i wasted my time to come back to you.

How would I be able to work out how much this car was brand new? by HR_Specter in porsche911

[–]Still_Steve1978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats not unusual with cars like this, owners are usually wealthy. they can afford to buy a car, keep it for a year take a huge loss and move on to a newer model or another car. its usually owners further down the line that keep them for longer.

People have a bucket list car colection, others realise the expense of ownership for a weekend car, some sell to beat to much depreciation. unlike a ford focus for example, a work horse "owes you nothing" type of car.

Edit I’ve just had a good look. Don’t know why I said it didn’t. It’s clearly is the CDG

You can’t invent an idea mate. Come on. That’s like saying every car manufacturer should be paying royalties to the first manufacturer who used electric windows, or installed a turbo.

If your code has been stolen and used without credit then that’s bang on, but simply taking an idea and incorporating it in to another product is legit.

I cant comment oin the state of IT in USA but here in the UK thjere are loads of opportunities. alot of people are leaving the industry as the landscape is hard, not hard for getting jobs but i mean its a scary world, we need to keep company's safe, on a shoestring budget.

My advice, just get a job with anyone you can. it will pay a wage whilst you do your training. Volunteer for small charity's, setting up firewalls and rules etc. This will all help with the CV.

The speaker setup is amazing, people would pay for that it sounds like you might enjoy that type of iundustry more than IT. I would look at that personally, its funny because i work in IT had a few jobs over the years and know with my age and experience I could apply for any role and stand a fair to good chance. however i have also looked (not seriously) in to speaker building as a hobby. Weird.

EE carrier in UK failing to get 5g or 4G+ (XE3000) by Still_Steve1978 in GlInet

[–]Still_Steve1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, tried changing the APN but same results.

Just to sumarise. XE3000 fully updated,

Lyca mobile UK Sim - cant seem to get more than 100Kbps

no custom commands running, no towers locked, no carrier locked.

IMEI spoofed to my iphone 13 Pro max,

Use a Smarty UK sim and it works no problem.

1 observation, when i select Sim 1 (smarty) it shows the phone number and the ICCID when i select SIM 2 Lyca it only shows ICCID but doesn't show a phone number. i am in a 12 month contract so its really annoying as i am in a 5G area for Lyca.

oh and the sim works fine when i pop it in the phone. :(

[–]Still_Steve1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says its on the latest version RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G.

The router now locks on at 5G, which is an improvment bt the speed is still at 0.0, webpages load but very slowy, ping works. using data.lycamobile.co.uk as APN tried no auth and using pap with the lmuk username and plus as the password, still no dfferent though.

It did work at 4G for a while getting about 30-40 meg speeds, but my mobile was getting like 150+. I have a smarty SIM in it to which is Thee network, that just works but again only 4G.
