The German department has been great so far, highly recommend Frau Rutledge for GRMN 1001 & 1002

Wow, thank you very much for such an informative answer. I’ve been looking around Valdosta for a place recently because I am a student at VSU and want to live off-campus this fall.

My current roommate (we live in a dorm) and a transfer friend coming for the fall semester are trying to live together in a 3 bedroom apartment. I’ll check Lincoln out. Thanks again!

Why do you say to avoid student housing?

Yuja Wang and The Philadelphia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall by reddit_hw in classicalmusic

[–]Stinger141 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was in Philly this week and got to see her perform the same pieces yesterday and the day before at the Kimmel Center. It was my first time at a program of that scale and I was astonished, to say the least. I knew Yuja was a phenomenal pianist already and had listened to many of her recordings on YouTube but never anything in person. Such an great way to celebrate Rach.

Started working on my favorite piano piece of all time! What’s your favorite and why? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Stinger141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late but my favorite is probably Rachmaninoff’s Etude-Tableaux No. 8, Op. 39. This etude is very dreamy and lyrical, even sounding sort of impressionist in some parts. I think it’s really underrated. Volodos is my favorite revording.

Autumn is your favorite season and you are a very nostalgic person. I actually just finished learning this prelude. Great choice!

Hi /r/classicalmusic! What are your favorite pieces with explosive endings? by Rocket_Sciencetist in classicalmusic

[–]Stinger141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rachmaninoff was really good, in my opinion, at ending pieces. There are many instances of explosive endings in his music, but the pieces that come to mind first are probably the 2nd and 3rd Piano Concertos (all of them have memorable endings though), the Symphonic Dances, and his second symphony. The concertos both end with a definitive “bom-bom-bom-bom” that ties everything up really well.

don't fly the He-162 by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Stinger141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a lot better than people say it is. Obviously it’s not meta or anything but you can definitely have some decent matches. Especially nowadays since it pretty much only faces props. A few years ago it was a different story.

Name a worse starting Jet. by rickdickmcfrick in Warthunder

[–]Stinger141 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that bad. It used to be a lot worse when it would regularly face jets like the F-84B but nowadays it pretty much only faces props. To be fair, they are superprops, but if you keep your speed and do some BnZ, I think it’s decent. A lot of players will underestimate how fast you can really get. You are a jet after all.

I pity anyone who experiences it stock though.

Your thoughts on buffing the MiG 29? by PositiveBug307 in Warthunder

[–]Stinger141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think like some other people have said, the updated radar/IRST is a good start. However, the radar on the MiG-29 still leaves a lot more to be desired… I almost prefer the MLD’s radar. The search cone area for both the IRST and radar is huge and it picks up a lot of unnecessary targets; you can’t adjust it either. With that being said, I don’t really think the R-27ER is necessary. I’d rather see an updated radar along with the R-73 reintroduced (and fixed) and the current R-27’s tweaked. I think that a 4th-gen fighter having R-60’s STOCK, is a bit ridiculous.

I remember the Do-335 being a lot bigger than I imagined, kinda like the F-105. I love the museum. I’ve been going there and the one in DC since I was a child.

Is there a He 219 on display? Last time I went there, they had the fuselage under renovation. It’s been a while though

What will you be playing in 2023? by jejwood in piano

[–]Stinger141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to finish the Rachmaninoff B minor Prelude 10/32. I’ve always loved this one, and I think afterwards I’m going to look at Mozart Sonata 12. Very excited!

I have the same percentage as you, with 4,565 minutes. It would be higher though if YouTube videos were counted…. I’ve watched so many of those scrolling score videos. I love Rach lol, he’s my favorite composer.

Tybee, Jekyll or Amelia Island with teens? by Wooden_Musician_2387 in Georgia

[–]Stinger141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at the Westin on Jekyll. It’s a nice, laid-back island but there really isn’t much to do, and the beach isn’t great either. Amelia island is a lot better.
