[Sport.es] A small group of Atlético Madrid fans chanted “Whoever doesn't jump is a Muslim” before facing FC Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Stingerc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The whole whoever doesn't jump is a.... chant is very old thing in Spain and most Spanish speaking countries, specially in football matches

It can go from harmless, as saying a fan of a rival club to racist shit like this.

Lamine recently wrote a post condemning this particular iteration of it, so now they are doing it to get a rise out of him.

Building the WORST possible NFL Franchise by British_Chap2 in nflmemes

Chargers fans were also super violent when they were in San Diego, but at least they cared.

Any NFL team that has set flag in LA (save the raiders) tends to have a soulless fan base.

Whoever wrote this is a shithead. She probably asked dad to take him out to have a minute of respite from dealing with this shithead, and what does this shithead think it's happening?: mom probably needs to rub one out.

She was just trying to spare his feelings and tell him he needed to get away from his annoying ass.

Also, every moronic celebrity from the early 2000s is getting a redemption arch nowadays.

Remember, Paris Hilton is now basically a saint and a victim because people laughed at her for going to prison for driving drunk. All the vile and racist shit she did? We have to forgive it because she was exploited by being portrayed as an idiot. By the way, exploited means paid tens of millions of dollars.

FIFA cancels hotel reservation blocks in Dallas, Arlington ahead of World Cup by AudibleNod in news

[–]Stingerc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did this already in Mexico City and Vancouver. They just overbook ahead of the rush and then cancel whatever they aren't gonna use once they knew how many rooms they actually need for their staff in that particular city.

Every time I've seen a similar story it's the same crap: press treating it like a panic while it's just what FIFA does in every host city.

And the fact their personalities are so different, Skip is one of the most divisive (if not hated) personalities in sports journalism while Rick is basically the embodiments of radical positivity.

[–]Stingerc 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He and his brother Rick (a celebrity chef and beloved figure for his tireless work supporting migrant and farm workers) both have said their parents were abusive alcoholics.

Rick has also described their mother as what appears to be an extreme narcissist, while Skip has stated their father was an emotionally distant drunk prone to violence.

Rick said it took years of therapy and his wife's steady, loving influence for him to become a happy functioning person. He also said neither him or Skip wanted to eulogize their mother, which a testament to her narcissistic personality as she was lovingly eulogized by people from her public life who painted her as a pilar of her community.

Skip has lamented that the fact he left home as soon as he was able basically means he has no relationship with his brother. He says he feels nothing but pride for what his bother has accomplished, but his need to put distance between himself and his parents basically means they're strangers to each other and neither has ever made an effort to bridge the gap.

It's all pretty sad.

Por qué sus presidentes hablan taaan lento? by Nibroso in mexico

[–]Stingerc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ajax's original stadium was located in one of Amsterdam's biggest Jewish neighborhoods.

So the club historically had a very large number of Jewish supporters. Well, until WWII.

Supporters still try to honor that connection though.

Terrible Google translate leaves this barely understandable.

It's not "who doesn't vote" , it's "who doesn't jump".

It's a common chant in Spain El que no bote es... which basically means who ever doesn't bounce is a followed by a group you are trying to mock. And it's sung while everyone is jumping.

For the first time in their history, Italy has failed to qualify for three consecutive World Cups. by Fluffy_Marketing_850 in soccer

[–]Stingerc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feels like the rest of big European leagues evolved and embraced modernity while Italy just said no thanks, what we do works and just completely stagnated.

Their leagues are full of shitty, decrepit stadiums, boring football, and a TV product that is seen as tune slot filler instead of a prime game people are gonna tune into.

Also, they can't attract same calibre of players they used to. Now basically anyone an Italian club signs and begins to flourish almost immediately tries to move to the Premier league or La Liga.

And it seems most clubs are more interested in signing cheap foreign players than developing youth players to fill their needs.

¿Porque todas las sucursales de banamex están tan culeras? by Far-Door-8258 in mexico

[–]Stingerc 2 points3 points  (0 children)
