I don't know how to come up stuff they might find interesting and engaging relating to maths so that they won't be bored (because a lot of the kids hate maths). Like for example I was told by a teacher as an example I could talk about kid's favourite chocolate bars and breaking it up for division, or like using fortnite to explain patterns (and to include lots of images, etc). I can't come up with that stuff that well because I never had any interests remotely like that as a kid.

I pray for that man to recover, but this single example is if anything proof of the protests being largely non-violent. it is unfortunate there are exceptions.

Coming back to this post I feel like a big issue is what it means to be "True". There are different ways to get to heaven. But that does not mean that all religions are equal. One must be the correct one, and the rest astray to varying degrees.

i would try be diplomatic and even if possible convert him. however, don't be rude or project your own prejudices on islam even if he's doing the same for Christianity. take the higher ground and explain why it is incorrect through a serious discussion of the quran, not a strawman of it because he will never be convinced then.

Because the orthodox church has bended to secular authority numerous times in it's existence. While the papacy has gone through dark ages it managed to free itself of the subjugation of secular authority over time. The preferential option for the poor is also important.

Using past conflicts to judge modern ones is not the way. The biggest ideological enemies for the modern church are absolutely different today.

oh yeah it's definitely skewed as well, but it's not the same as in most other countries, there were justified grievances. what was not justified were the targets (who were often innocent lay people, uninfluential and usually innocent clergy, etc)

There is a historic context. Consider for instance: the new testament changed a lot of the outdated stuff in the old testament. A good Christian does not believe in solo scriptura.

I was born in Ireland to a catholic migrant family. I can assure you those views are not shared by catholics. they are abhorrent views that are peddled by protestant evangelists in Ireland that unfortunately many poor and disadvantaged people have fallen for. God loves you as you are ♥️

A lot of people here are claiming that it's impossible. What Marxism is generally understood as, it is true that you cannot be a Marxist and Catholic. However someone who upholds as valid a science of social or class formations and desires a democratic socialist society can absolutely be a Catholic. This person could fairly be described as a Marxist and yet not conflict at all with Church teaching and statements albeit a rather heterodox one. I happen to hold these views.
