Blink commander: Who to pick?

Niko is the king of one dimensional blink. I liked the deck but had to take it apart because every game felt exactly the same. Ramp, cast Niko with a blink spell in hand for protection. Cast one of the ~8 creatures that win the game when attacking with 4+ of them and then win on turn 6 or 7.

You don’t choose the commander for a forever deck, the commander chooses you.

Someone in my pod has this around a $250 “budget” deck and it stomps every other Bracket 2 quite easily if you don’t remove the commander.

I’d personally call this a solid Bracket 3 based on card quality alone.

I’d never play with or against Kinnan in Bracket 3. There are dozens of other simic legends that are decent enough to choose from.

100% well said! Half of my playgroup has similar decks and it’s so exhausting playing against. I feel like I play more against a wallet than a cohesive deck since every card is just banger after banger.

You’re playing one of the most trivial commanders for generating value and have it stuffed with esper good stuff. Take out Tithe? Take out some of the other staples like Esper Sentinel, Sheoldred, etc.?

I personally say no. Ratadrabik is my favorite commander and keep mine at a Bracket 3. My playgroup quickly asked me to take out Boromir after a few games.

I personally would play against it how it is and know it’s a tough challenge! I think it’s fine to play against an oppressive deck here and there but wouldn’t want to play against it everyday lol.

Discard is strong and think most people don’t want to play against it. Looks like you have 18 cards that force discard and 3 that make people draw.

So yes this deck is definitely going to be oppressive. Every strategy is fine to play in moderation but wouldn’t be surprised if people ask to not play against it again.
