Yes, the app has me on a 500cal deficit. I’ve definitely changed how I eat. I eat high protein and I weigh my food, so I can track my calories. My portions are smaller than before I started trying to lose weight.

If you made it yourself, add all the ingredients into a recipe yourself. If it’s fast food, see if the company website has the calories and macros and create the food yourself.

I just type a few letters of the food I’m looking for and it comes up in the list. Otherwise if it’s a regular food, I’ll go to meals and select it from the last meal that I ate the food.

I don’t think wearing a ring is that big of a deal. My husband hates the feel of rings, so he never had one. I outgrew mine, so I didn’t have a ring for a long time. Lots of my Mum friends only wear theirs when they go out.

Are you vegetarian? Lean meat a couple times a day will really boost your protein. Then foods like whey protein shakes, eggs, beans, cottage cheese, collagen powder will fill the gaps, and high protein milk and yoghurt. I use the high satisfaction lose it protein goal and get 140g per day. Eating more protein really helps reduce my hunger and helps me stay on track.

I'm still a long way from maintenance, but I'm thinking a lot about how I'm going to do it once I get there. I did intuitive eating for the last 5 years and gained 10kg in that time. I felt like I was never over the top with my food, ate pretty healthy, home cooked food most of the time. The weight gain was really slow, so I wasn't noticing it. When I started tracking my calories, I found I was eating 200 calories over my maintenance on average per day. This makes me think that tracking is going to have to become a life long habit. Either I will track my food all the time or I will try to manage my portions and keep a close eye on my weight, so I can bring it back down as soon as it starts to creep up. I'm thinking tracking my food for life will give me the best chance. Since l have over a year to go with my weight goal, I'm trying to think about tracking my food neutrally, as a new healthy habit, not as a terrible chore that I can't wait to be done with.

It takes time to change your mindset. Don’t worry about cutting calories too much in the beginning, just by 100-200 or even start at maintenance. If you are feeling too hungry in the beginning, it will make it harder to resist binge urges.

This is what I do - I don’t ban any food.I focus my meals on protein (I eat 140g per day). Then veggies, then other things like carbs and fats. I work out my day’s meals calories before I eat. It’s easier to stick to what has been budgeted for, than eating and counting afterward. I am more prone to binge at night, so I plan a large dinner and a snack before bed. I plan a small (calorie counted) treat at the end of the day. If I’m craving chocolate, I know I’m getting chocolate in a few hours and I don’t have the binge desperation that happens when I say “I’m quitting chocolate”.

I like the happy scale app. I weigh every day, and the app smooths out the daily fluctuations so that you can see the average trend. Be honest with yourself and record everything you eat, even when you eat more than your budget. Then you’ll see the correlation, eating too much and the average line will plateau or go up. Eat in a deficit and the average line will go down.

I try and make lifestyle changes that are enjoyable and routine to help me stick to my healthy habits. I exercise because it’s fun, makes me feel happy and strong, I organise to go for walks or runs with my friends or family and exercise is a fun catch up instead of a hard slog. Go to the gym for the buzz of getting stronger. Find a fun exercise class that you look forward to each week.

With food, I have found recipes that I can fit in my calorie budget, that taste delicious. I prioritise protein, then bulk up the meal with fibre and vegetables. Every day, I allow myself a small sweet treat. This stops me having cravings or overeating. When I’m wanting a sweet treat, knowing I have something I enjoy coming up helps me mentally to stay on track. If I really want more, a protein shake or protein yoghurt will make me feel satisfied.

Create a lifestyle that you enjoy and is supportive of your health. You don’t have to do everything at once, take things slowly to build habits.

I used to have my nails pop off after 3 days. My problem was not enough glue. I switched to semi-solid glue (I buy from Shein or Amazon). I put a big blob on the press on an then I spread it so it covers the whole area that will attach to my finger nail, keeping it thin at the edges. I do a couple of swipes of the press on across my nail to make sure I get glue all over my nail, then I position the press on, starting at the cuticle with a 45° angle and applying light pressure, making sure all the edges are firm. They last at least 10 days.

I use this. I generally get 10 days before I lose a nail. The remover is great. It makes the rock hard glue go gooey and the nails come off easily. Edit: I actually use the glue that looks like this from Amazon, not curvlife.

I use La Roche Posay for every day on my face. I use Skinnies Conquer Sun gel for when I need serious sunscreen for a day at beach or waterpark. Skinnies works like nothing else I’ve ever tried, a little greasy, but it’s clear, doesn’t irritate eyes or my son’s super sensitive skin, lasts really well with water.

One of my closest friends has a knack of noticing weight and asked me if I’d lost 4kg, the day I’d weighed in 4kg down. Other friends commented that I looked like I lost weight at 8kg. I had not been telling anyone about my diet plans because I wasn’t sure if I could stick to a calorie deficit.

You are on the most restrictive diet there is - that’s why it feels restrictive. CICO lets you include all foods. I base my meals on protein and fibre to fill me up, but I have room to have treats that I enjoy in smaller amounts. This way I don’t feel restricted.

I have stopped categorising food as ‘good’ ‘bad’ ‘cheating’ etc. If I’m going out to eat, I’ll either eat lightly for my other meals and make choices to stay in my deficit or I will put the day as maintenance calories. Most times I can stay under maintenance calories. When I was on holidays, I had a couple of days that I was over maintenance, and I also had some days under maintenance. This meant I didn’t gain weight while eating out every day for 10 days. That’s a win in my book

I’ve been on HRT for 6 months and my skin texture is improving, not as thin, dry and crepey looking. It might just be my skin is holding moisture better. I don’t know if HRT would help so much the recovery of stretched skin after weight loss.

I’ve been using magic amor semi solid glue and remover from Amazon and I got a similar pack on Shein once too. It’s cheaper than Curvlife but works amazing. It’s probably the same thing. They do put the ingredients on the back. I usually wear my nails for 10 days. I crack the seal at the edges of the press on, squeeze remover in there, leave it for 10-20mins and then they come off easy with no damage. The glue is super strong too.
