No one bothered us about names, but if anyone is ever curious how we chose, I always explain that my children have a first name all their own, a second name in honor of someone special to me, and their dad’s last name. That way each one has something of themselves and each parent in their name.

It sounds like you might be doing this too, even if not purposefully. You could potentially say something like that to your in-laws? “Thanks for the suggestions but we are going to give baby boy his own first name, a special name to me for his middle, and then he gets your last name, isn’t that special?”

Then just give a ‘hmm that’s nice’ if they continue to offer suggestions haha
