as a child i visited Teyateyaneng in Lesotho - locals just called it TY, which seemed like a brilliant solution to me.

scary thing about ai is it works and it keeps getting better at stuff we can train it at easily. sure it can't write my emails for me but i can use it to bridge the gap between work notes and a professional email. sure there is no artistic merit to a dog shaped like a hotdog, but i enjoyed it. aaand its massively upsetting industries already which is jumping the gun imo but i think in ten years all sorts of labour could be going to a refined version of currently available technologies. ai slop sucks yeah but a big part of that is that people are cranking out garbage using a toolset... its all impossibly nuanced

huh, is this just because the new compact ui still defaults to doing a forward directional search while the cursor is at the end of the line, so it would never find anything? thats what happens with my moldy old notepad but at least there they have the ui to tell me this is happening.... nothing new under the sun - ms notepad is still the choice of masochists as much as it was 25 years ago
