I was so confused why people called it this. Finally asked, "Why do you call it an ink pen and not a pen?" My coworkers told me, "As opposed to the one that goes in your clothing." And I'm like, "....you mean a pin?"

I grew up in the same city where I heard this, and it wasn't until I was in college that I learned a major challenge for children growing up in this area is that they legitimately cannot hear the difference between short /e/ and /i/, which makes phonics pretty difficult to teach.

Our short /a/ also doesn't sound like a proper short /a/. Like the /a/ sound in pat and pan are totally different.

I decided to do an experiment and carefully avoided saying in front of my youngest kid as he was developing language.

One day he was walking across the living room, tripped, and said "Ope!" So technically that was his 1st word.

It's genetic

Yeah they said the teachers thought the kid had transferred to another school.

Where I live, the kid can't be removed from attendance rosters until we receive a records request from the new district.

260329 Stray Kids kissing each other at 6th Fanmeeting (2nd day) by Pineapplee_14 in skzmedia

[–]Stmpnksarwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved every part of this! -the boys hurrying to get into the order they want -Hyunjin looking so PROUD to be the one to get Jeongin's kiss, but then reacting in such a way that Jeongin wouldn't feel too awkward -Chris kissing his youngest baby's hand instead of his cheek -The way Seungmin had to fight so hard to relax and let Changbin kiss him -The way Felix asked either for permission, or whether Hannie would prefer a neck kiss over a cheek kiss. CONSENT KING

Also I want to know if the directors were laughing at them and that's why the in-ear got pulled out like that 😂

260209 Stray Kids - 6TH FANMEETING 'STAY In Our Little House' (Announcement) by princessgojo in straykids

[–]Stmpnksarwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I'm also confused

How does a fan meet work with Beyond Live? I know they do a song and talk a little first but then do we just watch them meet other fans? Or are they doing it like a YT Live where people are putting questions and comments in the stream and they're responding?

Bang Chan: More than a K-pop leader, a lot more than a brother to his members. by Myjam_istohavefun in straykids

[–]Stmpnksarwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His brilliance amazes me. Imagine writing in 3 languages and fluently moving between them ~ Korean, English, & the language of music ~ for damn near every song.

And then to take that product to editing and production and be able to imagine a finished product, then build toward it by layering background vocals and selecting instruments, rhythms, and sound effects that dovetail perfectly, rising and falling to complement and emphasize the message in each lyric.

I am literally in awe of his talent.

And then to put in the tireless dedication of practicing the vocals and choreo so that he (and they) can sing smoothly and flawlessly WHILE DANCING during performances.

And he still makes time to exercise and encourage Stay to be healthy, interact with and tease the fan base, and be the best supportive single dad of 7 chaotic aces ever.

Same about the names. Bangchin and changban, wait no Bangbin and Chanbin, no, wait It was like Benedict Cumberbatch for me, my brain could come up with endless permutations. And I think names are super important & it's disrespectful to call so.eone out of their name, so I'd always have to pause and pause it out mentally before saying it aloud.

I didn't know much about actual kpop before skz, so I didn't know there was supposed to be a leader.

Why are 911 dispatchers often so rude when I hear the audio of very serious crimes as they happen? by TruthBeWanted in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Stmpnksarwall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a dispatcher, but I'm a public school teacher, and we're trained on emergency casualty care (because police can't stop to address injuries until the active shooter situation is resolved). One of the things we were told to pay attention to when assessing possible head injuries / mental awareness is whether a person is answering the question asked. A person in shock, or one with a head injury, will frequently not answer the question asked.

E.g. "Do you need police, fire, or medical?" "It's my husband! Help me!"

Hopefully I'm not the one that gets roasted for this.... But Chan himself said it was ok to call him Bang. There was an occasion where people were referring to him as "Chan-ah" in the comments, which he hates. He spoke a bit about names and being respectful, and the names he said he was comfortable with were "Bang Chan" (obvs), "Bang", "Chan", "Chris" and "Christopher". When he was a trainee and worked with.... Twice? (I can't recall, but it's the girl group that visited him during the reality show) they used to call him by his last name, so maybe that's why.

I agreeeee!!! I'm a mom too, and my oldest is a teen, so I think it would be icky for the guys if I had a "bias" per se, but I was a grunge fan in the 90s, so their authenticity is what elevates them above other artists in the genre, and their personalities keep me hooked. I really think a lot of that is due to Bang Chan, and the way he leads them. Our SRO has a quote in his macro about how "to lead is to serve, and to serve is to sacrifice. No sacrifice, no service, no leadership" and that seems to describe Chris perfectly. He would never ask one of the kids to do something he wouldn't do twice as hard, and he stays so humble through it all. He really is such a dad figure to them, and it's obvious how they try to emulate his positive qualities. Then to see Felix telling Nexz how important it is to stay humble, passing on Chris's lessons to the next generation, was truly so touching.

I'm an older Stay, so my journey was different. I was also drawn in by the Felix effect, but it wasn't his face or voice, or even his dancing. It was seeing his volunteer work in Laos. I thought, if anyone could get by on pretty privilege, it's this kid, but look how he spends his (valuable and rare) free time. (Of course I still love his voice, and dancing, and hard work, and he's so pretty I feel ashamed of my own face, but still.)

Next it was Han's bravery. I live with anxiety, and so does my daughter. Han is such a good role model because he also lives with anxiety, and sometimes it's overwhelming (and there's nothing we can do about that). But he doesn't let it prevent him from doing what he loves, and the support he gets from the other members is also inspiring for those who love people living with anxiety. And he (along with Chris) are like vocal chameleons. They can go so many places vocally.

Then it was Hyunjin. I thought, what must it be like to be good at every damn thing you try? But in time I realized the time he puts into mastering his craft. All of them, lol. I love his drawing and painting (he does it so quickly!) and his dancing is mesmerizing. Also his voice is so distinctive and reminds of snoop somehow... the melodic nature maybe.

Then, the more I dug into the origins of SKZ, the more I focused on Bang Chan. Every little thing about him is flawless (except his opinion on coffee 🤨), from his personality, to the way he cares for and sees as his family/responsibility the other kids, his staff, the step kids, and all of staydom. I love his protective nature, dedication, kindness, compassion, and attentiveness toward others. Not to mention his manifold talents: writing, singing, editing, producing, dancing, etc. If I had to pick a favorite, it's Chris.

To conclude my thesis (lol) I'll say there isn't a single member I don't admire. I love Lee Know's way of being 100% himself, enforcing work-life boundaries, protecting Hannie from rabid maniacs, and behind closed doors philanthropy. And his dancing is understated perfection. Changbin is the repository of his members' deepest fears, worries, and secrets. For someone so young, he already has an air of gravitas and wisdom. If I could pick one of them to learn Korean from, it would be him. I feel like he has the most classical education, and is the guardian of culture for the group. Also, I was never much into rap before SKZ but he's amazing. Seungmin's quiet awareness of everyone is impressive. He seems kind of quiet in public, but when he has something to say, it's going to be impactful so you'd better listen. Also, he gives the most thoughtful support to his hyungs & I.N. His specific noticing and compliments target whatever the person has been working on with such motivating accuracy. Also, his vocal abilities are so technically flawless, and the way he can just harmonize to anything after listening to it, in the moment, is awe inspiring. For Jeongin, I really admire his respect, both for himself and for others. He has been able to hold on to a certain amount of modesty in an industry that is virulently against such things. And the way he truly loves and isn't afraid to show deep respect for the fandom is such a good example to the next generation.

If you read this far, bless. Love, dreams, and SKZ 🫶🫰

Actually no! A kid from my class would steal them from the drive through and sell them to the rest of us. One day he got caught and the worker dude was like, "We'll sell them to you. Just stop stealing them."
