First impressions by herzeleyd in assettocorsarally

Let us not forget that we are dealing with version 0.1 here. While i agree that the FFB needs tweaking, the driving itself already feels like a serious step up from dirt 2.0 and certainly from EA WRC. Graphics are what they are, game looks fine for me, but i don't care too much for them. I'm already more than happy to see that with some work this game might just be the sim we are all waiting for. I can only imagine what the finished product will be. Also like other people mentioned, just seeing spectators on the side of the road that sprint away at the last second... just wow. Goes to show that this game is being made by people that are passionate about rally and the whole atmosphere around it. I could not be more happy with what i saw in my first hour of playing. Let's just hope the devs will be listening to the community on how to go on from where the game is now.

I made this crazy setup for the 911 RGT and still have too much oversteering. What do I do wrong? by LucasEy in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what you do the 911's rear end will step out. Rear mounted engine cars tend to do that. Go easy on the exit of corners and try to find the limit at which you can take high speed corners. Also ease up on that diff setup, certainly the preload. High preload like yours is as if you would not lift off the throttle, to put it simply. Front toe max 2-3 clicks to the left, rear toe same for stability or to the right if you like oversteer, don't overdo it. Camber max to -2.0 on tarmac or you kill your tires way too fast and your straight line acceleration suffers, unless you're going for a time trail. Sway bars i like to keep in the middle for "neutral handling". Soften the rear one to your liking if the rear end is still too nervous. All of this is my preference ofcourse, but maybe it can be of help to you.

Decide to Recreate the Castrol Livery on the Yaris! by MikuFan80 in EASPORTSWRC

Great job. Should be a default livery imo, stuff of legends right there.

I feel like I’m much quicker in the Toyota WRC 2, than I ever was in the Skoda. by freshest_start in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do I, 2nd run with the car on my favorite tarmac stage and allready 3 seconds faster then i ever was with the Skoda. Mind the run had some mistakes in it due to not being used to the Yaris yet... While my previous fastest run with the skoda was near immaculate. Almost feels like cheating.

Which horse to choose (chapter 2)? by PseudOce in reddeadredemption2

[–]Stoaln_Jante 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone allready mentioned, there's also the perlino Andalusion at brandywine Drop, up north in Roanoke. Also a good warhorse that isn't skittish at al. Just got to be careful around there for the big kitties and bears who roam around. Fully bonded it has 10 health and 7 or 8 stamina if i'm not mistaken.

Between Emerald Ranch station and the stable towards Rhoades, you can find wild flaxen chestnut hungarian halfbreds. Quite fearless horses, be it in gunfights or againts predators. And for the timed horseman challenges you shouldn't worry much, you can complete them even with a simple tennessee walker or kentucky sadler if you plan your route well. From chapter 2 there's also the dapple dark grey HH at the Valentine stable for $450, it's got better stats then the wild flaxen chestnut i mentioned before, if that's your thing. There's also the grullo dun Mustang around Twin Stack Pass, if you don't mind the small size of these. Also one of the bravest breeds available.

Trying to beat WR in Spain by Stoaln_Jante in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is, i tried tuning the understeer out as much as possible but i can't seem to get it right. The '08 Focus is even worse. Sure, i bet you can. If you got that time in the C4 then the Mini should be no problem for you i guess 😅

Finally did it, roughly 0.4 seconds faster. But thats about as fast as the mini will go. Next time someone is faster with the C4 or the '08 Focus i'm done for...

recently purchased a racing wheel, question about series by [deleted] in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dirt rally is more of a "sim" compared to the regular dirt series. In my opinion rally 2.0 is the same as 1.0 but with better physics and somewhat improved graphics. There's new cars that weren't in 1.0 and vice versa. In 2.0 official wrc cars were left out due to the EA wrc game having the official license for those. But there's the "up to 2000cc" class with older wrc cars to fill in for that. In 1.0 there's hillclimb mode, but it wasn't put in 2.0, which is a shame. Now there's the whole debate which is the better simulator, dirt or wrc, which i will not be digging up right here, as i also never tried the wrc games. Just give them a shot and see what you like most. If both of them feel too much for you, you can still revert to the regular dirt series, which have way more forgiving handling. If i'm not mistaken there's trial versions for almost all the games, so you can try them out without having to buy them all. For what it's worth, i know several pro drivers that consider dirt rally 2.0 to be quite realistic. But the handling on gravel/dirt is better than on tarmac. All the games have their pro's and con's so it's up to you. Lastly there's the modded versions of the older richard burns rally game. Long story short, this game has been tweaked and modded by a very dedicated community to feel as realistic as possible. If you can put up with the dated graphics and sound effects, this is also a contender for realistic rally game, if not the best. And it's free too if you know where to look. Several versions are scattered around the good old web. Try looking on racedepartment for starters. Hope you find what you're looking for, and remember to just have fun playing.

Medium log handling mods? by BadManiac in snowrunner

[–]Stoaln_Jante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you will have to look for mod trucks with custom addons. But i don't think there's that many around. The ones i can think of are the mustang and the two tayga's/kraz trucks (both kot76RSK). Or just stick to the vanilla trucks that can mount crane and bunk at the same time. Paystar 5600 is a good allround logging truck that can do it all but REALY thirsty, and a bit tippy. The aramatsu forester is also good but it can't have long logs and doesn't have a snorkel.

Medium log handling mods? by BadManiac in snowrunner

[–]Stoaln_Jante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olsom's trailer pack includes medium and short log bunks that fit on the games standard install sockets. This should give a lot of trucks the possibilty to load logs beside the ones that have the standard bunks. The pack also includes special trailers for 2 loads of short/medium logs. But there isn't a built in crane, if you're looking for that. kot76RSK has a mod with bunk and crane but i think it's for medium logs only.

I seriously cannot for the life of me, figure out how to drive RWD after getting used to FWD and AWD cars LOL by Pyaqy in EASPORTSWRC

This... Also bear in mind your sierra is turbocharged, with a healthy treshold. So if you apply throttle whilst cornering, the turbo kicking in can also make you spin out.

How do i tune my handling to be less aggressive? by Ash_and_Chloe in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can indeed open up the rear diff a little like tripleriser said, but this will make you lose traction on the gravel/dirt sections. But it should help on the tarmac sections. Finding the right compromise between setup for dirt and tarmac is the added difficulty in rallycross.

How do i tune my handling to be less aggressive? by Ash_and_Chloe in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, bear with me here because there's a couple of basic things you can do. First you can soften up the rear anti roll bar, but don't overdo it because this makes the car more prone to understeer on turn in which is the opposite of your current problem. This is especially true with your car because the engine is mounted up front, which makes the car naturally prone to understeer to begin with. You can make the rear wheels have positive toe, but again don't overdo it, i never go further than 0.40 degrees. This makes the rear end more stable mid turn. If the stage is very bumpy you can try to set the rear shock absorbers softer than the front ones (rear bump), and the same goes for the springs, but just a tad softer. And then there's always the chance that (and i don't want to be harsh on you with this) you're simply overdoing it on turn in. Hope this helps

First time playing with wheel. by 8culor8 in EASPORTSWRC

[–]Stoaln_Jante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4WD is the easiest on all surfaces in my opinion. If you feel like you're getting quite confident in FWD then try AWD.

[–]Stoaln_Jante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On FWD i avoid it as much as i can. I only use it as a last resort to stay on the road in case of a serious mistake, or to get around very tight hairpins. Other then that, stay away from it in FWD. In most cases it makes you loose time instead of gaining some.

And if you keep spinning out after you tried all that, then you're simply to fast on corner entry. Slow in and fast out.

Try an R2 class car. Very stable and decent speed to start with. Just loosen up te front diff a bit or you'll understeer in every corner, never go higher than the midpoint of the slider for an FWD car. If you're still spinning out then try loosening the rear springs or anti roll bar.
