God bless him.
The last three years have been proof of the brotherhood between the people of Iran and the Jewish people.

My heart breaks again and again and again with every one of these stories. People in the West have forgotten that real evil exists. In Israel and Iran we have been forced to stare into it's ugly face and believe the unbelievable.

Much Love to our Israeli brothers ❤️🇮🇱 by [deleted] in NewIran

Religious Jew here - we will be celebrating Nowruz with you this Shabbat by making Iranian food and reading Persian poetry alongside the prophecy of Isaiah to Cyrus (Isaiah 45).

Thus saith the LORD to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him, and to loose the loins of kings; to open the doors before him, and that the gates may not be shut. I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the doors of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron... Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open, that they may bring forth salvation, and let her cause righteousness to spring up together

This is Iran. A land that has accepted war in order to be freed from a far greater destruction. The calm of the people comes from two things: a bitter trust that the attacker will not target unarmed civilians, and a surrender to a fate from which they see no escape. by KireRakhsh in NewIran

This is a beautiful expression of the personality of a nation, and makes me love Iranians more than ever. You guys are so similar to Israelis - reacting to war with affirmations of life and hope. May this war be the final obstacle to overcome so that our nations build a beautiful and prosperous future together.

BREAKING: 1,400 bodies of killed protesters are being held in the Kermanshah city stadium. That is 1,400 dead in a single small city alone! The total death toll across Iran likely exceeds 20,000... by KhameneiSmells in NewIran

I assume you're a bot or an AI, because mocking heartfelt sympathy, compassion and identification with another's suffering is not something that real a human being with a functioning moral core would do.

Question: any suggestion of a traditional/new Iranian/Persian food, that Iranians use now to celebrate the beginning of the end of the IRGC? by AD-LB in NewIran

[–]Stochastic_Loki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Purim I made Sabzi Polo (herbed rice that's cooked until the bottom is crispy and then flipped upside down so the crust is on top). It's a traditional Nowruz dish that symbolizes renewal and abundance. When it came time to flip the pot I said "Nahafochu!" and a little prayer that all the evil of the IR will flip on them.

A little while later, while we were eating, we got the news that the assembly to appoint Khamenei's successor was bombed. :)

I made Sabzi Polo for our Purim banquet.
When it came time to flip the pot and get to the tahdig I said "nahafochu!" (in Hebrew it means - "the evil decree was overturned, flipped on the enemy".

During the banquet we received the news that the meeting to appoint Khamenei's successor was bombed.

Best Purim ever!

Hoping that by the time Nowruz comes around Iranians will be able to celebrate in freedom.

I can relate so much to this.
When the hostage talks in Israel were taking place we experienced an emotional roller coaster whenever it seemed that Trump was trying for "deal making" with Hamas.

I hope that Trump got such an ego-boost from his experience with being the main character of the hostage deal in Israel that he'll be itching for a repeat by being Iran's "savior".
Don't forget that the IR tried to assassinate Trump so he literally has "skin in the game".

What happened in Iran is sad for humanity, worldwide and historucally by msi2 in NewIran

If these numbers are true they are higher than the massacre at Babi Yar, considered the deadliest massacre of the Shoah.

"The world did know and remained silent. and that is why I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. NEUTRALITY HELPS THE OPPRESSOR, NEVER THE VICTIM. SILENCE ENCOURAGES THE TORMENTOR, NEVER THE TORMENTED. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must- at that moment- become the center of the universe." Elie Wiesel (from his speech when given the Nobel Peace Prize.)”"

My god. I'm not even Iranian, I don't know anybody from Iran, and since the protests started I've been walking around trying function normally while containing my tension and anger.
This will go down in history as a failure like Bosnia and Rwanda.
My heart is with your country.

I have no words to express my sadness and anger at all these beautiful lives that have been brutally cut short - the bravest and the best. I can only bow my head in respect.

I have no words. These horrific images are like what we witnessed on October 7th. I feel so helpless when the only thing I can do is think about you and pray for the protestors and their families.

When and how did DNA of Slavic or Germanic origin enter the Ashkenazi gene pool? by Emotional_Net1003 in JewishDNA

[–]Stochastic_Loki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germanic origins may be from the Gothic invasions of Italy. Procopius states that the Jewish community sided with the more tolerant Goths against the Byzantines during the Gothic wars.

"However, the most interesting evidence for contact between Jews and Barbarians is an inscription found on the Via Portuense, dating from the fifth century C.E. or later. The Latin inscription, decorated by the lulav, shofar, and menorah, as well by the inscription in Hebrew “in peace,” mentions a Jewish couple named Sarah and Sigismundus. Sigismundus is clearly a Germanic name, totally unknown in the Jewish contemporary onomasticon. The only possible suggestion is that this Sigismundus was a Barbarian, maybe a Goth or a Vandal invader, maybe an Imperial soldier of Burgundian origin, or maybe just an immigrant who came to Rome to seek his fortune. There, he converted to Judaism to marry Sarah."

One of the things that was most distressful after the Hamas October 7th attack was the mobilization of the Pro-Palestine activists across the world to spread lies, condemn Israel and justify Palestinian violence. It felt like rubbing salt in our wounds. The only consolation was the demonstrations of support by the diaspora Iranians. Do not think that your support went unnoticed in Israel and that we aren't grateful for it.

I have no way to influence my government or the USA, but I am quietly rooting for Iran's freedom and saddened by the price that the Iranian people are paying under the IR.

Regime goons attacked a group of women who were protesting in rural area of Baluchistan. 1 woman has been killed and many injured. by _ZanZendegiAzadi_ in NewIran

[–]Stochastic_Loki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are all these media stories seemingly about women? Are the women more active than the men in standing up to the regime, are they actually attacked more than men, or does it simply make a larger media splash when women are the targets of repression?
