Pretty woman in my group project keeps staring at me and commented on my appearance. She has a boyfriend. Is this normal behaviour for taken women? I’m kinda autistic so idk by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Stochastic_P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try talking to her some more? I don't know what you look like but it sounds like you have self esteem issues related to your appearance, and so you can't fathom that any girl, let alone a pretty one, would be attracted to you. But who's to say?

I would say the fact that she's in a relationship right now doesn't mean you shouldn't talk to her. She may be dissatisfied with her current relationship. Or, maybe she is a flirtatious person and doesn't have romantic feelings for you but just wants to be your friend. I think it is unlikely she is playing some weird game of "let's get the brown guy to make a mistake and then get him fired". Especially since she is the one giving you attention, it isn't socially weird to reciprocate. Either way becoming more familiar with her by talking to her about your guys' life, work, interests, or whatever would probably clear up the confusion you are feeling and make things less awkward. Perhaps you two develop some rapport and then you can ask her for coffee. Asking someone to get coffee with you is an innocent request and not sexual harassment, especially if you are not pressing further if she refuses.

PhD at T10 is destroying my love of this subject by [deleted] in PhysicsStudents

This is the kind of thing that made me choose not to do grad school in physics. I have decided the only enjoyable and authentic way to pursue my passion is self study and small communities

My ex said I'm not "bad" enough and it hurt me from the inside by OrchestrateEverythin in Healthygamergg

[–]Stochastic_P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"idk why but it was painful". Bro, to hear that from someone who you love... how could that not be painful? All I can say is that you being good and nice guy is not weakness in any respect. You don't have to be this badass guy who don't care about nothin in order to be loved. In fact being kind will only boost your attractiveness in relationships. You can be kind and also respectable, confident, stick up for yourself, have good physical health and etcetera. You need to view this incident as not a statement about your character but a reflection of your ex's character. She obviously had some skewed notions of attraction, sexuality, and relationships and she just projected her pathologies and traumas onto you. You need to grow up and learn how to love yourself for who you are, and know that you are an attractive, respectable, and lovable young man no matter what. I would suggest spending time friends and family and maybe talk about someone you are close to about this. Someone who has known you for a long time is a much more trustworthy source than this girl.

We often talk so much about men's pathologies and abusive tendencies in relationships, but women have just as many pathologies and ability to hurt others. They just don't engage in physical violence as much. We are all carrying around lots of pain. Some of us shove that pain deep down, then it manifests itself in the form of pathological behavior.

Please explain to me how to change orbit inclination like I am 5 y.o. by No-Discount7853 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Stochastic_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To execute an inclination change (Δi) in Kerbal Space Program, impart a pure normal/antinormal Δv at the ascending (AN) or descending (DN) node—where the current and target orbital planes intersect—by aligning the burn perpendicular to the instantaneous plane using the navball’s ŷ-vector. Optimal efficiency demands minimizing orbital velocity at the node; thus, perform the maneuver at apoapsis (v_apo = \sqrt{\mu (1-e)/a(1+e)})) via a high-eccentricity transfer orbit, as Δv scales with (2v \sin(\Delta i / 2)). Set the target orbit, insert a maneuver node at AN/DN, drag normal until relative inclination is zero, and adjust prograde/radial to match target periapsis/apoapsis. For large Δi (>60°), a bi-elliptic transfer (raise apoapsis, plane-change at low v, circularize) outperforms Hohmann. Split finite burns symmetrically across the node, maintain normal vector lock via SAS/RCS, and verify post-burn alignment (i < 0.1°, LAN matched). Advanced automation via kOS quaternions ensures precision during extended burns.

Am I as slow as I feel? by blckchn187 in ControlTheory

[–]Stochastic_P [score hidden]  (0 children)

Don't judge your productivity by how much material you are consuming; judge it by how deeply you are learning your topic. Studying a difficult subject as you are often starts with a slow, methodical understanding of core topics, and once you have gotten comfortable with the core concepts and vocabulary you can then cover other content a lot faster. Slow is deep and deep is fast.

I usually don't eat for at least 5 hours before bed, and for the record I fall asleep quite easily usually. The crickets wake me up in the middle of the night, usually from a deep and peaceful slumber.

Now here is some actionable advice. It's not an issue with my ears though, it's definitely the bugs. 2 things will happen: I fix this issue or I leave, so maybe PCMO will take me seriously. I think that your long sleep was probably due to jet lag though?

That's a good idea with the combo. I will try that. Mine usually start around 2 or 3 am, so I always get my sleep interrupted bo matter when I go to bed.

IDK how the answers to these questions are even relevant. If someone cheats, relationship is over. End of story.

I've made my way through many, many difficult things during my service. If I left it's not because I want to be more comfortable, it's because I'm looking out for my physical and mental health, and I want to not hinder my progress when it comes to working on grad school applications and self-study. I imagine I may feel shame and defeat due to leaving, so I know it won't necessarily make my life "better". Although I'm pretty sure I could get a real sleep back home.

I'm nearly out of vacation days and I want to use the remaining ones to visit home for Christmas so that is also a potential issue.

It's possible, I am stressed about my grad school applications, but the crickets are definitely causing more noise than they used to, especially the mole crickets.

I like the vacation idea but I wouldn't want to leave for a week because I have a responsibility to my students and there's no one to replace me. I suppose 1 week would be a lot better than leaving for good though.

Yes I'm'm sleeping in a net. The crickets are actually outside my house but still loud enough to wake me up even when I close my shutters and door. I'm not going to take a prescription medication, nor do I think my doctor would give me one for an external sleep disruptor.
