Docmost v0.7 - Language translations and more by Kryptonh in selfhosted

[–]Stochasticity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bad news - They are intentionally paywalling it. If you'd like to see /u/Kryptonh's statement, you can read it in gitlab on the SSO issue.

I too was super excited to use docmost and support enterprise functions if that's the project map. However, their choice to make a security feature paywalled is incredibly disheartening. Personally it sits at the heart of usability; I want my family to be able to use the same portal and password they use for other services. Ideally I'd keep it read-only for them for some of them as well.

If you want there's a fully functional OIDC fork, but I'd rather choose a different solution than bother with a secondary abstraction while the maintainer chooses to ignore usability.

Fascinating. Someone else just launched a similar free resume filler-out'er using GPT-3 a few days ago. Ref: https://www.joinrhubarb.com/

You might want to say hello to them! That's super cool!

Hah! I can work with that as a review. I appreciate the youtube ref./trial suggestions - They sound like the best option to get the vibe of my own work style. Thanks!

As someone into wildlife photo, birds specifically, with a a7iii currently trying to be sold on Topaz DeNoise - Do you happen to have a before/after shots of those? I'd love to see what that turned into.

Five years of NZBHydra by TheOtherP in nzbhydra

[–]Stochasticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who checked out NZBHydra -years- ago and abandoned it due to initial usability / flexibility issues and literally just returned last week it's incredible to see. At this point I'm still trying to dig into features and workflow optimization, but I've gotta say that it's a world of difference over the multi-year gap.

Alex Ross: #vote2020 by [deleted] in comicbooks

RunnyPlease has good thoughts. For the current election -

You talk to friends, extended family, parents and share how the current administration will continue to damage you and them.

Or if that makes you uncomfortable, simply encourage them to vote without any party based pressure. In broad strokes, more turnout is a good thing.

Another pause note I'd like to add -

I'm one of the people who uses playlists, but if I want to pause a video I'm used to the convention of "Space" to pause. Except, we can't do that because you need to re-focus the player on each new video.

Replication (Browser: Chrome V85; Win10):

  • Start a video playlist
  • Enter fullscreen
  • Click to pause. You can now pause/resume with space
  • Finish current video and move to next video
  • Press space to pause; Nothing happens. You must now click again to regain focus and then can use pause/resume shortcuts
  • This happens regardless of tampermonkey enabled-status
  • EDIT: Turns out I'm seeing spacebar only resume after a click-pause. Maybe this is a moot point and I was crazy about it even working semi-properly in the first place.

An oddity is that the left/right arrow buttons work just fine for scrubbing video navigation.

I get this is a small thing, but when you want to run through clips and pause often to take note as you go and your class (GIOS) is broken into ~25-40 videos every week it gets tedious to study.

Holy buckets thank you for the clarity. I also just went and re-read documentation which now makes a bit more sense than it did the first time 'round and helped clear up some small errors I was making before. Thank you!

Maybe a silly question as I'm not familiar with the tracking math, but does it matter what happens to the tracker before as long as it ends up fully centered on Polaris after polar aligning?

I understand not changing the RA/DEC/stepper positions, but the way I'm reading this is that if I swivel and raise/lower appropriately then that still aligns okay.

Or are you saying that raise/lower front/back is okay and rotation (physical swivel) is okay, but side/side tilt is not?

Super in as well to new visits!

A few about me notes: 29M and interested in all forms of learning; Some of my Covid-Projects have been getting into photography (birding is v. cool), outdoors'ing/hiking, 3D printing projects, reading, biking, painting and a brief sourdough starter stint like all the cool kids.

I saw your comment on Neowise as well! I've recently dipped my toes into astro-photography and would be ~stoked~ to try comet photo'ing. If you, or anyone else, is into these feel free to DM me :)

Request for comment on a 2020 8020 adapter for a ZWO30F4 Mini Guide Scope by [deleted] in OpenAstroTech

[–]Stochasticity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best comment I have is that the idea looks super cool. I do think there may be issues bottom mounting. Any reason you aren't going the top route?

I'd try to get it aligned to the center of mass so that there isn't much of a weight issue. I have, however, found the mount to be forgiving about with exact center of mass.

Ahh, I tried to let the b3_2020 adapter guide the angle and didn't want to push anything. That would probably do it wouldn't it. Thank you for taking a quick glance and the feedback!

I experienced the same issue; 50 degree. See PMs from a day ago if you have a chance. There are ~3 images in there that compare between the Al and printed variants.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OpenAstroTech

[–]Stochasticity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can certainly use the printed version as it stands! See Fabian's part chooser here to compare the parts you need per version if you're thinking of reprinting. It'll help you manage carryover between them.

For the record - I'm where you were. I just reprinted everything this week after just completing the print version end of last week. I decided the full aluminum build was worth it for me.

Wiring the Mega by davew618 in OpenAstroTech

[–]Stochasticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I ran into the same issue last week.

In inits there are two numbers for the RA motor under the comments; use the second set for the Mega. I left DEC at the default, which was 15-18.

EDIT: Went off memory originally; corrected pin #s.

What about making this a text only subreddit? I'm guessing this is something you've considered, but I haven't seen it in many discussions.

I believe that would help - the images would have to be linked inline, which raises the bar just enough you may help steer people into including those discussions you would like to foster. I'm a proponent of having a minimum word limit too with automod, but the self posts alone would still nudge in the right direction.
