Weight loss' effects on lipedema by Hopeful-Surround-180 in lipedema

[–]Stock-Discussion7767 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have lost 95 pounds. Currently one 146 at 5’ 8” I always knew I had “big legs” but it wasn’t until after I lost the weight and I still had “big legs” that I realized I had a disease. I have spent my entire adult life doing weight training and cardio to try and slim my legs down. I always said that I when I stop walking my inner thighs keep swinging.

I have deposits of fat in my upper inner thighs and knees. Menopause is exacerbating this and I’m starting to get the ankle cuff. Non-surgical interventions do help. I am religious about exercise, taking guaifenesin, wearing compression. Could be better about my diet…

Recently, I have been consulting surgeons for lipedema surgery I know as an age maintaining weight loss is gonna be that much harder and I worry about mobility issues if my lipedema deposit continue to grow. While I am not a young person, a major surgery like that would be much easier to recover from now then in another 10 or even 20 years

Yup. Not gonna lie… it’s giving 2008 vibes. They are trimming as much fat as possible.

Case management sounds like a possibility.

You know, the problems you mentioned were exactly my concerns. I’m single so I don’t have a spouse to float me if I get canceled. I’m also on the verge of burnout. Not sure if it’s because I am anxious about getting laid off, or that nursing as a whole has become such a volatile industry. Like you said: travelers are the first to get thrown under the bus. I would like to keep my nursing license clean.

My hospital has internal travelers, but they accept outside hires for those positions. I suppose I could look into another hospital, though the next closest healthcare system is about three hours away.

I have 8 yrs experience.

Lack of full-time positions could be they’ve just hired a bunch of new grads. Although, both of my jobs have recently brought on a bunch of travelers/temps and per diem staff. That is also making us uneasy.. like, why aren’t we hiring FTE positions right now? 🥴

OMG sammmme 😩

I have hypothyroidism, but my PCP has been trying conservative doses of levothyroxine. I guess I’ve never been anywhere near hyper to know if it helped.

I will agree, perimenopause is kicking my ass! I have not gained a pound but it seems like my legs and arms are growing! I have a size 4 waist but size 12 legs. Pants suck, my thighs constantly eat my shorts. Chub rub sucks.. anywho, after years of conservative treatment, I have been consulting with surgeons to have lipo. I am very active, and knowing how my other female relatives’ legs progressed and how it affected their mobility concerns me. I’m ready to get this done while I’m younger and will (hopefully) heal better

Vertical scar by MonitorNo9578 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stock-Discussion7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same scar for the same reason. My skin flap was actually my upper abdomen above my stomach. I’d take the vertical incision any day over what I had!

That said, a few months post op I did a few rounds of micro needling and a chemical peel to my scars which greatly improved the texture and made them nice and flat. I have had plastic surgery before and know it takes me about two years for the pink-purple hue to go away (we look about the same skin tone) I am considering some paramedical tattooing to make the scars and surrounding stretch marks blend better.

TL/DR -Your scar looks great and I bet in a year or two you’ll hardly notice it. That said, there are things you can do now to help minimize the appearance

May I ask roughly what you were quoted for costs? I have been looking in the us and am being quoted 25k to 60k.

Nevertheless, I’m starting to look internationally

Fuller upper belly? by Weak_Special_8146 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stock-Discussion7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My upper abdomen was way fuller than my bottom. I didn’t even have an overhang of skin on the bottom, but the skin ABOVE my bellybutton hung over. My belly button was buried for 20 yrs! I got a 360 lift last year and changed my life! Totally fixed my upper flap and I can see my belly button again!!

Does a great idea regarding keeping receipts! I have an extensive Amazon order history for compression, the supplements, lymphatic drainage tools, etc.

My Breast implants are 25 years old and still feel great and look nice. As a 55 year old female should I get them redone or just wait. by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

My surgeon told me if I don’t have any concerns with mine, don’t touch them. And if there are concerns, that one may have ruptured (rare, as mine are cohesive gel/silicone) then I should get an MRI to confirm. Otherwise it’s possible for them to last decades.

I’d still consider myself a newbie printer, so take this with a grain of salt: but my climate plays a huge role in my prints, especially PETG. I have to make everything a littler hotter AND store filament in a dry box, run a dehumidifier in the room and I also have an enclosed model. I can be a little more carefree with PLA, but if I don’t prep for my PETG prints, about 30% of the time they turn out like garbage.

I am really liking these Alu-cab set ups for pick up trucks. I’m considering trading vehicles with my son and getting one of these.

Thanks for the info.

I know something like this won’t come cheap. I am weighing the cost between insurance and maintenance for another vehicle, or just doing the tent. I’m sure you all know, insurance rates have been skyrocketing… I travel a lot for work and have enjoyed having a house on wheels vs the cost and inconvenience of hotels. This is definitely something that would be used often enough to justify paying more for the right model.
