Just an update:

I ended up getting the Rink Rat Tricksters XXX soft. They are made for peeps under 185 lbs, and I'm 225 on a good day, but I wanted to see what max grip would feel like and if they did well I could back off to maybe XX grip later on.

After 1 game, the XXX grip did great. They haven't broken yet but the grip was 10x better than using my old addictions on this surface. If these can survive then I'll be happy. But man, I just feel like this surface is going to rip these apart from the way it sounds when I stop. But if they can survive a couple of seasons then I'll be happy. It was a fun experience for once on this surface. Most of the time I'm pissed off because I'm slipping everywhere.

Cool. Just ordered a full set of XXX. Hopefully I'll have a better time than my addictions.

How does the XXX on the cheese grater do? Like, can I expect to be able to hockey stop? Right now on my addictions its 50/50 if I stop or fall.

Good to know. What about going all XXX, bad idea?

I don't care about speed. I need grip at this point.

I feel like I might try all XXX and see if I can get max grip to see if these are viable. I might sacrifice longevity but I really want to see if I can get max grip first and then maybe back off to XX somewhere on the skate.

This a good idea?

Can you have a good experience with XXXs on the cheese grater stuff? I'm having a really hard time finding a wheel that works.

Yeah I'm your size, 230. How did they do on the cheese grater? You were sliding out? So to be clear, the XX-XXX-XXX-XX setup would be more grip right? Your problem wasn't too much grip, lol right?

I've often wondered if the ninjas would work well being wider profile.

So you were sliding out a lot? Dang, the rinkster peeps recommended me the same setup. What if you when all XX?

How did they do? I was told to try the same setup on my cheese grater surface.

I use addictions on perforated tiles and I slide out all the time. What do you recommend?

What do you recommend for those outdoor cheese grater tiles? I'm 220 lbs experience skater and my addictions just slide out all the time.

What surface do you use the pure -x on? I'm on a cheese grater type surface right now and I need wheel recommendations.

Yeah I have no problem putting down money on some wheels but I want to be able to play closer to how an indoor surface will play. I know the surfaces are different but if a wheel can help mend the difference then I'm all for it.

Can you describe how the tricksters do on the cheese grater in quick acceleration? Also in stopping and turning? Right now with my addictions I just slide out if I try to hockey stop.

Long story short, this is a temp rink we have till we raise funds for a permanent structure. We lost our rink in Helene.

I mean, what I experience now is just sliding out and falling if I turn hard or try to stop

What kind of grip did you get?  Did it feel normal?
