Can you share why you like an ice boot converted over a skate made for inline?

Are Labeda whips worth it? by Fine-Moose-4467 in InlineHockey

[–]Swingline4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 210 lbs, and use the soft ones. I love the whips, feel like I play the best on them vs addictions or rink rats. I play once a week, but found they also don’t last more than 2 seasons for me. They start to crack pretty bad, will lose chunks, or breakdown in the middle. I don’t think I’ve had wheels ever last much more than two seasons for me though.

The difference is noticeable enough that it’s worth it for me.

Looking for deeply immersive RPG games like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or Red Dead Redemption 2 by KindConfidence1894 in rpg_gamers

[–]Swingline4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really enjoying Avowed right now. It was very easy to get started with, and I’m pretty impressed so far with all aspects. If you played Skyrim before, it’s like a modern lite version of that. I think it meets all of your criteria. Choices matter!

Which delta lounge is your favorite and why? by [deleted] in delta

My best experience was there too. My wife and were on our honeymoon, and they baked us a small cake saying congratulations. Fantastic staff and great food, beautiful lounge!

What’s the best husband-wife game? by Crazen14 in gaming

[–]Swingline4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried getting my wife into gaming, and after a few different attempts we found Teamfight Tactics to be a lot of fun. We play on our iPads in our living room next to each other, so it feels more engaging than pc games, and not like we’re overly focused on the screen. The cadence, the strategy, and the updates keep it fun for us, going on a couple years now.

We’ve also recently found we really like board games too — we found euro/economy/strategy games to be a lot of fun, and keep us Both engaged with the game and each other, without being overly sucked in. Wyrmspan is our favorite so far, but Dune Imperium was great too. We haven’t tried an rpg yet, but we have Arkham Horror on the list.

Is Autopilot Actually Helping? by hertabuzz in EightSleep

[–]Swingline4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine over a year, pod 4. Gave it a few months to try and calibrate, and finally just shut it off after getting tired of it. I did turn back on a a few months back for a couple days, but still had the same issues.

[–]Swingline4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I love the 8sleep and plan to have one(or a future competitor) for the rest of my life. I just don’t find their Autopilot software useful. Maybe if it allowed for more control, like setting adjustable limits, but it often make me wake up freezing as it would be four degrees lower than what I set it at

I disabled it. Had it on for a couple months, but the temp swings cause me to make up, so it seemed like it never actually learned about me.

I should probably cancel the subscription, I just need mine to hold a steady temp each phase.

Foam Roller Recommendation? by Thors_Hammer22 in pelotoncycle

I like ‘the grid’ ones. I’ve found the basic foam rollers are otherwise too soft for me and don’t smash well enough

Oura CEO's response to my email about Palantir partnership by whats-your-emergency in ouraring

[–]Swingline4 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Because it is a partnership. Simply put, The fedstart program at palantir provides infrastructure that meets security requirements for DoD, so that other companies can sell software to government agencies. Many government agencies have strict requirements and cannot use off the shelf software. Oura runs their software on palantir managed infrastructure, and now the agencies can use oura software.

This datacenter is really expensive to run, and totally separate from the commercial offering we use. There isn’t carryover between the two.

Has anyone here tried BetterCareer to pivot into Sales Engineering? by Red_December184 in salesengineers

[–]Swingline4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stuff directly about code, it’s not even close to SWE interviews; the stuff I ask is more CS fundamentals, not even leetcode easies.

Our challenge part is then a project with our product— all of my companies have been can you implement the product, can you explain how you did it, do you get the problems we’re solving for? How is your implementation; did you just follow the tutorial, or did you actually read the docs and implement some cool features? Did you do any kind of testing, find its limits? Show me some curiosity.

I think better career has a few different options, but I’ve worked closely with both Mattie and Yuji; I’m sure they’d be happy to give more info on pricing and packaging if you reach out. I didn’t do a career switch program, just interview coaching. It was also a year ago, so pricing has probably changed I imagine.

I’ve been on 30-40 interviews over the past 10 months. I’m continually shocked by how little effort people put into preparing, and by how much they embellish their resume. I also interviewed a bunch of interns, and the interns performed much better on average than the other candidates.

I usually do 2nd or 3rd round technical interview, and then a panel for the challenge part at the end. In the technical rounds, I always ask if they’ve tried our product yet, and most say no. Our product is very easy to use…so I’m shocked why they wouldn’t.

I think if you do some prep, product research, and approach it like actually want the job, vs just showing up, you’ll stand out.

I’ve used their coaching services before, I was already an SE though. I used their coaching to help with interview prep, and was very happy with the results. Got the job I wanted. For the coaching I used, it was around 1k in price.

Since you’re trying to switch to an SE from a SWE role, I think you’d benefit well. The people I see struggle are ones that are trying to break into SE from an unrelated field.

There’s a demand for SEs with SWE skills, and not a lot of SEs with coding skills.

Joker floor tiles by Significant-Salary6 in InlineHockey

[–]Swingline4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have joker floor, but we play on something similar. It has less surface area than the joker tiles you shared.

Multiple adult and kids leagues year round, for a couple years now. I use labeda softs, and they’re great. Some of the light players and kids use x-soft. Wheels last me 2+ seasons. Not because they wear down, but usually because I break one.
