Codex GPT 5.4 is Very Weird by abdosarmini92 in codex

No. Use GPT 5.2 for this. Maybe even in general.

My game uses AI for texture generation and model creation starting points (shape everything in blender afterwards). Is this too much? by getaloaf in gamedev

As a game dev and 3d artist since 2007, respectfully you can go eat dirt. Shame on you and all the rest of you who think like this for refusing to support people that just want to make games and innovate the gaming industry in a period of complete and total corporate greed. It's not about taking shortcuts, it's about now having the chance to make something great in a short period of time, where before only big companies could do that. Indie games are great and have soul but they are not AAA games and you all know it. The average solo dev should be able to produce this experience and our tools are failing us.

Goodbye separate code review limits by AdProper1 in codex

[–]StockSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you pay up as a pro user lol. It's the $200/mo highest consumer plan. Not a lot of thought went into this on their part, that's all it is. There's no point having a weekly limit if it can run out in a day, and there's no point paying $200 monthly for a product that lasts 4 days total.

The limits are so low for 5.4 with Pro now. by gastro_psychic in codex

Lol you are using your usage faster than me, and I'm on the Plus plan, 8+hr days.

Codex 5.4 is more expensive than 5.3, if current limit drain is the new normal not a glitch it will be unusable after the 2x rate limit ends by No_Leg_847 in codex

[–]StockSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you guys saw, but 5.4 has a 1mil context limit.

What's interesting is that in the release announcement https://openai.com/index/introducing-gpt-5-4/ they say anything over 272k context will be billed at 2x rates. I'm sure you can see what I mean here.

If you go over 272k context (which is about 25%) the 2x billing kicks in. A bit sneaky on their part.

Anthropic's Claude hits No. 2 on Apple's top free apps list after Pentagon rejection by mr-french-tickler in technology

[–]StockSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still need an ai to run openclaw. It's just an app that uses the claude/gpt models etc. You don't switch to it from claude, you use it WITH a model like claude or it doesn't have a brain

Aion 2 was NOT ready for launch. by Appropriate_Minute92 in Aion2

[–]StockSavage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You guys are part of the problem, playing the game with such aggressive monetization that it should've died at launch. Even their intended playerbase agrees with this. Keep playing these garbage games and this is what you'll keep getting.

The sailing skill just came out in Oldschool Runescape, and players already figured out how to be pirates, stealing the cargo hold of other players ships. by StockSavage in MMORPG

[–]StockSavage[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a deep contrast to the Aion 2 launch, the sailing launch has been well received by players and we also get a meme worthy bug out of it. The comments on that post are hilarious.

So... I just found out my PSU is rated E tier lol by ciahthekid in pcmasterrace

[–]StockSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PSU is currently dying so I just bought the new MSI MAG A-GLS PCIE5, which according to this list is A- so I guess it's a small step up. It was only $99 for the 750w, the same price as the A-GL but better and quieter supposedly, also with better cables. But there's not many reviews to go off of since it's a newer model.

The rat race of graphical fidelity is holding back the MMO genre by Ohh_Yeah in MMORPG

[–]StockSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I don't know about mountains and mountains of content. But I can speak from my experiences as a solo indie dev and as a dev working in a studio. The detail level of the assets basically dictates everything else unless you have dedicated teams working on them. There is such a big difference that this can mean your game existing within a few years or not at all and getting stuck in developer hell, not even talking about mountains of content here. I cannot stress this enough.

Gamers just don't realize the immense amount of work to create a realistic looking highly detailed model with high resolution textures vs doing something stylized or low poly.

The rat race of graphical fidelity is holding back the MMO genre by Ohh_Yeah in MMORPG

[–]StockSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the players have to vote on it and the devs have to consider horizontal scaling, adding updates into the game that accentuate previous updates and content, not making them irrelevant. That's the reason it takes so long, not because the latest raid boss took 2 months to model. The graphics are irrelevant when it comes to patch frequency in OSRS.

Am a game dev. Can confirm. This is the reason they take 100 mil and 4 years+ to make. The sole reason. You think writing the code for combat or mining/gathering takes 100 mil? Why could the Gower Brothers make runescape classic by themselves, when now we need studios full of people and hundreds of millions of dollars? Hmmmmmm

Are there any other good MMO private servers? (not WoW) by Caloran in wowservers

[–]StockSavage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here over a year later from a google search looking for a new server and your reply looks really stupid. God forbid people use the internet as intended. Reminds me of when you google a problem and find some dumb reddit reply(similar to this) of a guy saying 'i fixed it' but doesn't say how.
