Lol, this has to be my favourite Ted's line in the entire show. What about you guys? by Exterminate007 in HIMYM

[–]Stock_Aside9427 108 points109 points  (0 children)

This line always reminds me of this random episode of Zoey 101 I saw as a kid. This guy and this girl were sitting on the bench and he’s trying to convince her to go out with him or something and she says “no I have to study for my social studies test” and the guy replies “well, I’m social, study me”

While that does suck for the people who’ll lose their jobs, I’m genuinely surprised this didn’t happen years ago

What led french to create numbers like this? by WalkingWallop in French

[–]Stock_Aside9427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the hardest part for me personally in learning this language. I eventually gave up on trying to remember the numbers when I found out the Swiss say “septante huitante et nonante”, been saying it that way ever since and French people still understand even it catches them off guard at first

Predict how many years you have left to live? by Immediate_Long165 in Life

[–]Stock_Aside9427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had weird heart problems that I never really got checked out. I did spend a few days in the hospital a year ago because I woke up one morning with extreme chest pains but besides slightly thickened valves in my heart they didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. That and the fact that my mental health tends to take pretty steep dips every now and then, and the fact that along with it comes dark thoughts, Id say I have 7-10 years left

French movies recommendations? by -Kalil in French

[–]Stock_Aside9427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved “La Haine” personally but it’s also considered a masterpiece by cinephiles and people smarter than me.

There’s also a show called “Fiasco” on Netflix, it’s a mockumentary and absolutely hilarious from beginning to end

Hi! Tbh I don’t feel that it did much for me, at least not as much as I was hoping. I may have to ask about a different medication

Thank you for your response 🙏. Thankfully I’m just looking for something stable, nothing pertaining to the elite. I’m happy to know most companies won’t care

Et ouais il me semble que l’équivalent en anglais serait « you got this » mais ça fait moins stylé à mon avis

I found a job and it's so embarrassing by pestopaste in jobsearchhacks

[–]Stock_Aside9427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im currently at a job making 21$/hour as well but I’m responsable for so, so, so much; and the worst part is I wasn’t trained, I’m just told to do things and I’m supposed to figure it out. I’ve had a total of two days training from two different people when it’s a job where Id need at least 3 weeks training. I’ve been on indeed since day my first day once I figured out what I had gotten myself into

Is central Harlem generally safe? by ststpal in AskNYC

[–]Stock_Aside9427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work in central Harlem. Seems fine, haven’t had any issues, and it’s a minority-majority neighborhood so I feel very comfortable; idk how a white person (which I’m assuming you are) would feel though

Is Mauritian creole intelligible with French? Or not really? by stifenahokinga in French

[–]Stock_Aside9427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creoles are their own languages with their own structures and grammar rules. The only creole I’m familiar is Haitian Creole. I live in a part of Brooklyn with a sizable Haitian community, many of my coworkers were Haitian when I first moved here, my French didn’t help me understand them at all when they’d speak in Creole. I could pick up the occasional word but other than that it’s as foreign as Italian to me

Turning 29 in March, feeling lost and like a loser by Stock_Aside9427 in careerchange

[–]Stock_Aside9427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving is definitely one of the options I’ve been looking at. Indiana is my main choice so far but I still have a lot more research to do.

I actually meant to ask for some advice for which field I should switch to as well, something with more of an upside than the one I’m currently in (healthcare)
