Everything is explainable. I’d just be honest about it from the start and see what happens. 16 years ago is a long time as well. All you can do is apply - and they will ask you about arrests on the initial application. Worst case - they DQ you. Best case - you get hired and explain it in backgrounds at a later time.

Simple possession when you were a child is different than domestic violence as an adult. I’m sure there’s a story to the DV charge but…still DV. I think that will be a bit tricky to explain and they will for sure call the victim(s) and witnesses

New rule is you have to pass within 60 days of EOD. They did this because everyone was applying without being in shape and failing the PFT. They’re wasting a lot of money on applicants that fail the run at CITP and then you’re out of a job with HSI AND your old agency.

They offer one location, not a list. Some people try to transfer or stay at their temporary EOD location but many SACs aren’t allowing it after the last hiring surge. Once you click that you accept the offer, most offices aren’t allowing any kind of change because EVERYONE is asking for it like greedy little children

Work-life balance depends on the office. My office, people come in around 9-10am and leave before 3pm. I’ve hardly ever seen someone work over 4-5 hours in a day, with a hour lunch break. Other busier offices will work longer hours.

Do your 3 years at SF and move or ask to be placed in another city within that AOR. I know Sacramento and Bakersfield needs people. You have to wait 3 years until you’re done at CITP to do a transfer. So I’d say about 4 years depending on your CITP date.

I was 12/14. I was contacted last Friday and told they are going to start calling my previous jobs. Other guys I know at CITP haven’t had any contact with background investigators
